yeah but i haven't run the 10k yet. my sps went to crap so i didn't get a chance to run it..once i get all straightened out i will run them both :D mostly the 10k for at MAX 4hrs for sort of a "high noon" effect

Hey Lunch, I love the way you split the reflector so you could mount the bulbs near each other.

My 12,500k Helios is more like 8-10,000k and EXTREMELY bright. I have had 10k bulbs before, but this one blows them out of the water! The 250watt is pretty bright, but its hard to tell its even on when the 400watt is running.

Update of mine:

It was custom ordered by somebody and then never picked up from the builder so I got it pretty cheap. It is 3/4" acrylic.

I would have preferred it to be 30 X 30 X 30 It would not appear to be so tall then.

It originally had a center overflow that was never drilled. I removed the center overflow and then drilled the back for OM closed loop and two 1 1/2 overflows.

Right now it is just a single 400watt 20K pendant.

I want to add a couple T-5 for actinic to do the dawn and dusk effect.

I will probably have to build a canopy as the stray light in the living room is a little much right now.

Here is my cube. 36x30x24 that i finally just set up. single 400watt 20K Radium.

aquascaping for a cube is much more difficult but alot more interesting to do.

I like your canopy/pendant. Is it made of wood? I was going to make a canopy that sat on top of the tank but I like yours better.

Looks like easier access to the top of the tank for feeding fish etc.

it's a wood canopy. i'm using a special reflector b/c i wanted to use only one bulb and wanted to make sure it had minimal dead spots. from the looks of it, there are no dead spots at all so i'm pretty stoked about that. i was a bit off on hooking up the canopy to the ceiling so right now i have to use those 3 bulkheads to balance it correctly. heh.

the tank plus stand is pretty tall so i have to use a stool to get up there. then i just wear those shoulder length gloves to reach down. stay nice and dry. but having an open top makes it sooo much easier to move and aquascape.
