10G with LEDs

10G with LEDs

Here is my standard 10 gallon with a custom built canopy. I built the LED fixture. A friend of mine built the canopy out of black walnut and trimmed the bottom with the same black walnut. I stained it to match my furniture and my 180G tank. (I'm about to do the 180g in LEDs also).

Finally, the tank is on the stand!! Tried to go for the ELOS style tank, didn't do the overhang thing in the front, that kind of freaked me out. Anyways, I'm very happy how it all turned out. Hoping that the foam will get crushed some more under the weight of the water when I fill it up. Enjoy!

Too much light, no way!:D Well, maybe... if I didn't have dimmers. I have full control of my light. I can control intensity and the color blending. I am very happy with the lights. I plan on getting a clam too at some point.

This was my test setup prior to going all in on a LED build for my 180g. I like the prospect of not having to change bulbs and deal with a variance in spectrum and intensity. I know that the LEDs will dim 30% or so over 10,000 hours, but I can alway run them at a higher current. I have set the LEDs at 800mA max current (80% of the rated power), but I keep them dialed back to less than that.

Acclimating new corals to the light is easy with the dimmers too...

Your tank looks great. Isn't 24 leds on a 10 a tad much?

I was thinking the same thing.

Gahngoo,
When it comes to having SPS you won't be lacking in the light department.

I like your choice of using walnut, one of my favorites

Wow...some really great stands here, guys. My 120g in progress.

I actually just took this tank down last week, but I wanted something modern feeling for a 10 gallon contest that I was in.

I found this inspiration:

Here is the result:

Here is the functionality:

Sump is on the right, storage for two good size containers down low (one below and one off to the left), lights and a little more storage above. I have an extra line tied into the pump outlet so I can just slide a jug under the right side, spin a valve and nicely pump out the water for a water change.

Here's how the tank was looking in it's prime:

After I moved I had it wall mounted in the basement for a bit:

Sorry, I looked all through this thread because I thought I had posted in it before but couldn't find it. I now realize a thread split occurred... but I did give more detail this time :)
