Oh yeah. I got home last night to a very full email inbox. At first I thought...wow, there's been a lot of activity on RC tonight. Then I quickly realized RC had gone all wonky, because there were multiple email notifications, but no new posts.

Anyway, as you said, back to the original programming.

No wonder I got at least a dozen of emails yesterday. Something must show off....., so I kept on trying and trying.... and trying...... well, I gave up at last.

Gasman - Is the browning normal on these? I am currently battling a nitrate issue and the top of mine has started to brown a bit. What caused yours to do that, or do they naturally brown sometimes or is it just a nutrient issue?

Mine does the exact same thing, no idea why. It's like the most exposed-to-light areas turn light tan....

I'll try moving it, since it has looked better before in my tank...

I just got up a frag of this and I want to optimize growth. Can anyone advise to placement? High flow? High light? etc.? My is coloring up but the polyps haven't really extended.

That is such a nice coral and one I have wanted for a while. I thought I was getting a piece once, but turned out to be a ORA GBP Digi and not the Acro.. talk about a disappointment.

Has anyone that has one ever tried to contact ORA directly to see if they would be interested in a frag of it back so they could regrow it? Being such a nice coral I would definately like to see ORA be able to put more on the market.

ORA has NOT lost the mother colony. They had some trouble with it when they moved their livestock. I'm sure it bleached out from the move....mine did twice from moving it. I spoke with ORA and they plan on having some available this year. It can be found online for around $50 now.

The GBPA is a hardy yet sensative coral. What i mean by that is it adapts to different tank conditions well but it tends to lose it's color if it's stressed. Mine has been through hell in my tank. It has survived when other's have not.

Placement is like any other Acro. Mine is in medium flow and is 8-10" under a 400w XM 20K MH with a lumenmax II pendant. It's color is a deep green with bright blue polyps. The more light you give it the brighter the polyps and the lighter the green. The lower the light the darker the green and the polyps are more purple.

P04 will turn this sucker brown quickley. It's very sensative to lighting changes also. It should be acclimated to any lighting change made (even replacing existing bulb with the same).

This Acro is my favorite acro. If you have pics please post!

Thanks! This was pretty helpful placement info, especially the notes on color-shifts and hardiness.

I'll post some pics when mine grows. . . at all.

Mine now looks like a big pile of dog crap since I last posted in the thread (see it at the top of this pic). It encrusts nicely, but no other growth, and the color is horrid :(

Suggestions?

I would never put a clown goby in an SPS tank..

After looking like sdguy's for the past year or so I can finally say mine is returning to it's old glory. The brown on the tips is turning that nice green color again and the PE is awesome with bright blue polyps. I'll try and get a pic. The only thing I can attribute to it's comeback is increased maintenance and stable parameters as I'm not doing anything different really..

I agree with what was said above. This coral is very hard to kill but I wouldn't call it a hardy coral, as it is tough to maintain it's nice rich green color and to keep it looking prime. At least in my experience.

Seems to be everyone's experience. It's tough to kill but it will lose it's green color the second something is out of whack. I sure do love the **** out of it though. Mine is getting greener by the week and begining to grow more.
