I'm looking into LEDs for an 8 foot tank. I'm looking for some pics of how certain LEDs and their coverage, specifically the EcoTech radions. I saw one guy ran 3 for a 7 foot tank and it looked good but they were really close to the water. with their cost I was looking to get by with 3 maybe positioned higher at a higher intensity. Ik 4 are reccomended for 8 feet but God bless they're pricey. what do you guys think? lmk if there are alternative I should consider as well!

I'm real picky on the way lights make the fish look and these radions can pretty much look however I want them.

also are there any sales coming soon?

all depends on what ya want to grow :). You are going to get a zillion opinons here, so hang on tight! I am doing a 300 now (8 foot) and going with my Photon 48 x 2 plus T5 supplement in front and back. Basically double what I have on my 4 foot 120 now. Works fine for me, but you will find others don't like color, don't like growth, don't like blah.... Got my popcorn bucket ready!! LOL... just kidding.

The radions are top of the line but really over kill for a fowlr tank. At that price I think there r better options.

Sorry mixed user name up with someone else. I'm not sure if this tank is fowlr or not. Sorry about confusion. If it is a coral tank sps I think u would need 4. LPS or softy tank u might be able to get away with 3 but u will have some shadow areas

I think I'm guna start with some softies, mainly zoas. I want a realistic clear natural look during the day but I want my tank loking like this at night

I love my reefbreeder LED lights. I can grow basically any coral there is. Great controller on them, it's all touch interface. Really clean look on them too.

I am researching the same in my plans for a 8' tank. I was thinking of going with 2x Pacific Sun Pandora S 145W - that'll be 4 x LED's + 8 x T5 39W. That should give me coverage around 100" w/ 34" long lamps. The lamps themselves would be mounted in an aluminum rail system - similar to my last set-up I made for a hanging kit.

The price is pretty substantial though - over $4000 when you factor in the fixtures , taxes, and bulbs and the aluminum hanging kit.

Here's what my 4' tank looked like with Pacific Sun Triton LEDs

nice setup. can you adjust those?

Fully controllable on both spectrums, blue and white. It is setup in 30 minute increments so all you have to do it program it once and it works on its own everyday. I haven't had a single problem with them. Plus I'm pretty sure there is a two year warranty.

Ya, Logan is a stand up guy and the warranty is two years. I have the Reef Breeder Photon 48 and I still don't have turned up past 75% on the Blues. I ended up mounting in my hood. Reefbreeders has several series depending on what you need. You can configure bulbs to your own specs as well as none/90/120 degree optics, just ask them.

I don't think you would be happy with the coverage on an 8' tank, even if they are mounted pretty high above the tank. I don't have a ton of room in my canopy, so I have 5 of the hydra 52s on my 8x3x2 tank. 4 would have been plenty if I could have mounted them higher, but I added another light to reduce shadowing.

I have two RapidLED Aurora Pucks over my 75 along with two T5s... a blue+ and AquaBlue Special. I wasn't completely happy with the look of just the LEDs, so the T5s were added and visually, appear to produce more light (of course, because they're not focusing all their light straight down like the LEDs).

Could you sure you lighting schedule and how far off the light is from the water?

Just got the photon 48" and looking for some baseline numbers to shoot for as I am ramping it up weekly.

This is mine under my DIY RapidLED setup. I love these and I'm growing pretty much everything, including SPS, LPS and some ZOAs.

On this one, the white LEDs are turned up to 60%. This is how I normally run them.

On this one, the LEDs are dimmed down to 40%.

How did u make the rod coral holder? Magnet mounted?

Yes sir. I can hook you up with a few. I am big into DIY and am making stuff all the time. I use these to acclimate corals to light and flow and then move them to a rock. Other times, I just get lazy and leave them there.
