Show me your mini-carpet anemones

My LFS has several min carpets for sale, I was thinking of buying one but their colors are so dull! If I do buy one will it always be dull, or is there a way I can make their colors more vibrant?

I think there are 2 possible scenarios here. #1 being that they could be bleached, and with proper care, their health and color will return. #2 - I had a vendor at a local swap who was cutting and propagating these say that cut nems always come out lighter than they were previously. I can't say that I have done this and tested this, but that is what I was told.

Don't buy a dull one when there are sooo many pretty ones out there. It may be bleached but chances are that it's just a dull colored one (there are LOTS of maxi's that are plain). They do, and will, change a little depending on your light but a dull one will always be a dull one.

I would agree, wait till you find a good specimen. I bought 2 that were supposed to be gold in the middle. Hoping that they would look better after they got settled in the tank, I bought 2 of them. Lets just say I'm still not happy, I sold one for the price I paid for it, and I'm left with one. That's the reason it's still living in the frag tank.

Moral of the story, wait until you find the right one...then jump on it.

these are great, but can be a pain when they get stuck somewhere you do not want them, i had on in a breeder bin once to get to attach to some rubble, well it attached to the side and it took forever to coax it off.

heres a few of mine that are visible in my nem dedicated 5.5 gallon with 10 maxi minis, sexy shrimp, anemone crab, and pom pom crab

as far as propogating goes. I have a few and have just started propogating them. right now they are in a 150 gallon tub with a bunch of leathers lit by natural light. does anyone have experience propogating them on the large scale? I am assuming they are like rose anemones where once you start having dozens of clones you need to keep each individual color morph in its own tub to keep allelopathy (chemical warfare) down. any one have experience or additional input in this regard?

I've done alot of reading on maxis and I've never heard of that. Just take a look at the maxi nem thread on nano reef http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=235118&mode=linear reef goddess has over a hundred in her tank.
