more pictures at olivers homepage, i really like the open look,

the tank is 100% ceramic rock,

just a note, you should soak the cr in ro water for a few weeks, before you use it,

Thanks for posting Heinz. This thread may be old, but still useful information about aquascaping. I still have my ceramic backplates, rubble bottom, along with my home made pillars!

Gorgeous pictures! I drilled my rock a while back but never found rods thick enough to use to stack the rocks.

Where do most purchase their acrylic rods from? How are the rods attached to the acrylic plates? thanks in advance!

i used concrete blocks and attached them by drilling a hole in the block and just putting in concrete or two part epoxy around the rod.

the blocks had been out side in the elements or the water of the koi pond for a few weeks. there was not shift in pH.

New Aquascaping On My 1yr Old Reef.

New Aquascaping On My 1yr Old Reef.

Hey guys, its been a while since I have posted but though I would share this with you all. I have nearly had my tank for a year now (1st October!!) :D , but was getting really bored with my rock layout. Firstly, I had absolutely no-where to put nice corals, and secondly I wanted to get away from the dated look of a pile of rock with corals dotted over it.

I looked through some of my snorkeling photos and decided I wanted to make my tank look more like a natural reef wth overhangs, pilars and depth. Criticism welcome :)

New layout - need to put corals back in!

I am restarting my reef tank and having purchased any rock or filled my tank. I just have my equipment. I would like to do aquascaping. What type of LR is best for this? Should I buy cured or uncured rock? Once I buy the rock, how long out of the water can I keep them? I appreciate all of your assistance.

Daniel

we drilled the rock underwater. i would do it that way again.

if you can get uncured rock at a good price i would do that. wait for a few months before adding anything else to the tank. lots of interesting stuff will develop.

do lots of water changes and practice frequent water quality testing for all the important measurable items.

get some books and read.

WAIT, patience is your friend.

Nice to see this thread still bouncing around.
Here's a couple of my latest projects I made pillars for.

skypapa - try plastic suppliers, manufacturing companies and even sign shops. I googled a couple places in your area and found American Plastic Supply & Mfg Clearwater, FL plus I would bet a dollar most of the suppliers sell online these days, www.USPlastic.com; look under sheets and rods
