I was curious about, say the ric has 2 mouths. Can you cut it into 8?

I have actually accidentally cut some florida rics with no mouths and they turned out fine. I have also had left over pieces from when I pulled them off rocks grow into healthy ones. I have always had excellent luck with them though.
