I dont think there alot of ric tanks around as me dont see any. I have kept sps for many years and know want to try propogating and keeping rics. I started with 10 and know got 20 in total. They easy to keep and some beautiful colours out there. Rics are not as demanding asd the sps and will survive in most setups.

Yes i'm agree with you....

But where are your rics frag tank and your rics tank???

I like to see more and ore and more...;mdr...

Everytime I look at threads like this I remember back when we used to sell ricordia rock back in the late eighties and early ninties. Complete coverage by ricordia-to the point you couldnt help but crush a few stacking rock- 5 bucks a lb.

I just bought and set up a 33L and plan to make it a mostly ric tank and to try my hand at fragging....i just threw in the contents from the 29 cube I had just sold so I am not sure if I am going to leave all the rock in (odd miscellaneous corals will be cleared out too), or clear it out to make room for rics....I have a LED light hidden under the top cabinet which worked out great, but the few rics I dropped in do not seem to be impressed...will go back to T5 for now..'

I have a normal 75 tank (see pics above), but set this up in the utility room for fragging...

Are rics best to be kept in a lower light and less flow part of the tank?

In general they need moderate light and low flow, but those are subjective descriptions. What do you have as far as lights and tank? I have 4x 54W T5's in a standard 75G and mine prefer anywhere between the middle to the bottom of the tank. There isn't any direct flow over them.

Watch the corals and they will tell you what they like. It they look like they are starting to melt (colors fade and coral looks like it is withering), then it is probably too much light. If they don't open up all the way, they probably want more light. Start them at the bottom and if they look like they could stretch out some more move them up a level. I would give them at least a couple of weeks at each level unless they start looking bad (like the melting look). Also, some colors like a little more light than others so there will not be one magic spot, but you will find the right zone and then you will be good to go. Good luck.

Of course if you have less lighting then modify accordingly. If you have a ton of MH then they may only survive on the bottom......
