Show me your S. Tapetum!

Here's my maxi mini rock (6 different color variants shown).

And some macros of the same.

Tighaboy - I am expecting my maxi's to come in on Teusday (paid too much but think it will be worth it if they can someday look like yours). Any advice on acclimation, placement or care?

Awesome. Welcome to the maxi mini clan (as another reefer once said to me). I paid a ton for mine as well, so don't feel so bad.

I would acclimated in the same manner you would acclimate any other coral. But in terms of placement, mine tend to shy away from bright light. Many of mine move as low as possible and under shaded areas. I do have pretty intense T5s over my nano though. So I'd start them low. Turn off all pumps/circulation and place the nem on the chosen rock. Give it a few minutes to attach, then you can turn on pumps again. But likely it will move until it finds a spot that it is most comfortable.

If you want to avoid having them go onto certain rocks, maybe make a little nem island rock to isolate them (by sand) away from the other rocks. hth.

Do any of you have experience with clowns hosting in MCAs?
I have likely had the largest variety of clown species in the same quarters with S. tapetum and none of mine have called them home long term. Most species ignored them entirely without even testing them as hosts.

I would not plan a tank around them hosting clowns long term.

Ok, that's good to know then. I don't think I would have planned a purchase solely for the hopes that a clown would host the MCA, but it was something I was thinking about as a benefit.

Will these guys do damage to corals like some larger anemones will?

Had a spawning event last night in which at least three of the "maxi" S. tapetum anemones I have in one tank released eggs. There are some other S. tapetum anemones in the tank that didn't participate, at least while I was watching. Don't know if they're males or if they just weren't in the mood.
