Show me your SC orange passion 10-14k lighting

Where are the Orange polyps ...smh

I found them:clown: They were at the end of the rainbow in the pot of gold by the white unicorn

I second that, heard a lot of bad things about SC and I have literally never seen a coral from them in a customers tank look good, all the posts, all the forums, none look like what they show on their website. One vendor I would never do business with. JMHO. Now Cherry corals, Jason fox, very nice....

+1 (unfortunately I did try them once, though)

Another thread on the web people are thinking the reef raft orange passion is the same coral as this one and have pics where the polyps have some orange. What a night and day difference between the two forums. One argues about lineage and names, this one the exact opposite.

So lets see yours!

I have seen the SC Orange Passion once. The piece I saw was in a SC's frag tank at the Reef Raft USA grand opening and that tank was lit with a lot of blue. LED if I'm not mistaken. In all honesty, It looked exactly like the picture on his website. To this day I have never seen another hobbyist be able to achieve those colors. I can guarantee it would never look like that in white light but looked incredible in the light that it was under.

Here in SoCal a lot of the guys are running extremely blue lighting to bring out those wild colors. Many of the T5 setups I have seen don't even have a single daylight bulb. Most of them are so blue you would never consider running your tank that way. If you run 10K-14K lighting, IMO you should be staying far away from these designer corals. They are not going to look like that in your tank.

I was over at Reef Raft USA the other day and saw some of their corals in the back that were simply mind-blowing. Of course they weren't all that way but there were 5-10 showstoppers. Luckily here in SoCal we get to see before we buy and you all have to buy on blind faith. I recommend that you buy from vendors that have good reviews for selling codas that look like what is advertised.

What baffles me is how people will buy these high dollar corals that have these designer names, yet even in the picture show a coral that should be called the "baby poo acro!"

I was there at the rr USA grand opening too and saw and bought the op from sc and the colors were definitely legit. I unfortunately lost my piece though when my system crashed as a result of my acrylic tank seam bursting. Anyway, I've been hunting for the og op ever since. There's a guy on socal who has a legit piece and his colony pic is amazing.

I can understand why people are so concerned about lineage with this acro because unfortunately there have been several other companies who have been using the same op name since then and their colors don't even come close to the original. They always claim that their frags will color up to look like the original, but I haven't seen one yet do so.

I agree with Greg too that this acro won't look like the original pics under whiter 10-14k lights. I'm had mine under 20k mh and it looked pretty close to the original.

I feel like I should chime in on this. I recently went to reef raft because I had been there a couple of other times and was blown away by the corals. Well, I asked the owner (who acts like his own you know what dont stink) to turn on the white led's because I like many people I know arent going to run only blue led when the lights are on. Obviously every single piece looked amazing looking top down under only blue led, once the whites came on, I literally was not tempted by a single frag in the entire shop. Everything was washed out. Ive also been to SC a few times and the owner there seems to also have the same type of personality and Im holier than thou attitude. Not going back to either place. Ever.

Pretty funny thread.
I have the WD tenuis and it really looks outrageous like that. Can tell you that it does need the blues on to scream tho.. I'm fine with that. Polyps are same color with whites on... Neon tips and yellow coralites

And to find this many people hating on the OP. It's a great piece! Hype or not... Can't believe how miserable some of you guys are. Jeesh, I'd hate to hear what you think about my tanks lol :)

That's not the original Orange Passion. All these new colonies they're naming the Orange Passion is doing such a disservice to the original one. I don't know who all these new vendors are trying to fool by claiming and promising that these new colonies need to 'color up' and will eventually look like the original.

There was a vendor at reefapalooza Orlando last year selling wild corals that he said was pearlberry. I have the original ORA pearlberry and know the difference but alot of people don't:hmm2: Sad what people do for a buck:rolleyes:

Yea, that's why I just go straight for the wild corals, I can name them whatever I want and no one can tell me otherwise. :)
