yourfishman,

that is actually Wagu Steak (Austrailian equivilant to Japanese Kobe). Fantastic stuff although expensive.

The Schuran set up in that crawl space took quite some time. The crawlspace had to be dug out and then concrete poured. After that it took about 10 days to have it all plumbed up and all of the quirks worked out. It was a lot of money the amount of which I would rather not say. Let's just say that between the skimmer and the calcium reator was 10K alone not to mention the piping was all schedule 80 pvc.

Great link tacocat...thanks.

I have a couple of larger jars that will work with the same size top. I use the smaller one so if the skimmer overflows my autotopoff won't dump a bunch of kalk in the tank. Call me paranoid:)

Hey Chris,
how much does your MRC pull out with Dry skimming?

I can't remember quantitatively but IME beckets are bad about clogging up on the riser(at least mine is) after a couple of days dry skimming so I don't really try it. They just need to be cleaned too often that way similar to downdrafts and injection type skimmers. I run it about as dry as I can without having to clean it more than every 4 or 5 days which I would call moderately wet.
thanks, Chris
