Nice tank tman, is your stand solid??

Brookers, sweet! How long have you had that blue gorgonian? That is a gorgonian right? I like the blue sponge too. I have tons of those in my tank but bright yellow.

Keep em coming, I Love these softy tanks!

well actually i dont have that tank anymore, i upgraded to a 6x2x2 and went sps about 18 months ago. then after my acro wipeout in the summer i decided to go fowlr and get some bigger, more interesting fish.

i had the blue fan for about 18 months. it was growing quite well, for the first few weeks it only extended at night but after a while it would keep its polps out all day.
good luck with your tank !

Apercula, What lighting are you using now? I really like your first pic, the light looks really natural. And is that a giant mushroom on the right side of the first pic?

The first picture was Iwasaki 15k 175w single end metal halide. By the time that picture was taken they really werent carrying thier spectrum anymore. The second picture is XM 20k 175w single end mh, maybe with t5 actinic supplement, not sure if they were on for that picture. I turned the actinics off because the tank was way too blue with them.

The mushroom on the right end of the tank is a 16in+ Amplexidiscus fenestrafer, giant cup mushroom. It out grew the tank so it is in a coral propagation system, split in half manually.

Awful picture of the split, halide glare on the topdown shot.

The base had spread onto two rocks so I ran a scalpel between them making sure to split the mouth.

What kind of lighting did you have on your softy tank ?

I took some new pictures tonight, lights had been on a few hours so everything is open, and I cleaned the glass. Newish red anenome is nicely opening finally.

I love my gorgonians, so I'd definitely get some of those. And as long as you don't touch SPS with them, mushrooms are always nice additions. I have a mixed tank, but here is mine

wow great tank shots. I love the movement that softies give to tank if i wasnt so addicted to sps i would try and add more.

ADVICE NEEDED ABOUT 'SHROOMS OF ALL THINGS!
Personally love mushrooms of all varieties and have bought many colonies over the years. While EVERYONE reports that mushrooms propagate like bunnies, I have had the opposite experience. Mine die. Purples and greens seem to last well (but do not propagate) but reds and blues shrink and die within a couple weeks. I've moved them around in my established 125 gal DSP (middle, top, bottom) -- but the reds and blues consistently expire. 1/3 water changes are performed monthly. Water chemistry, per the guy who performs them is "perfect". My critter population includes 1 percula, 1 powder blue tang, 1 flame angel, 1-flame hawk, 1- long nose hawk, 1 large old velvet damsel, 2 wrasses plus a large coral banded shrimp, cleaner shrimp, a 5" green starfish, several zoas, a 5" (based) green acopora, and a host of snails. I've also found that softies of various types do not survive long. Between the consistent losses of red and blue mushrooms and the loss of other softies I am really frustrated. Can anyone help? Thanks! -- Tom
