I like it especialy how you used the shelf system to mount your lights you can raise or lower it and to boot have a place to put stuff above smart Idea.
I might use your idea on my 30"x44" custom frag tank

I have a 20x15x5 all in one acrylic coming that I will use a 20" Nova Extreme Pro (6x18w T5) to light. I will post pics when it is all setup.

I'm about to set up a frag tank as well. Just need to save up a bit to offset the setup costs. I hope that I can grow out frags for trading in it.. can't bear to throw them away.. don't want them in the display..

I was thinking:

- Rubbermaid Stock Tank.
- Closed loop for flow.
- Eggcrate / Acrylic rod frags.
- "in sump" style skimmer set up in the frag tank.
- 250 watt halide light.

Of course I'll post some photos once it's live... that will probably not be for a couple months though.

Hey Jnicho, Where did you find those "semi" retro T5s ? Ive been looking for some like those. And which lengths are you using and do you find they are enough light or no ?

Hers mine Still setting up and need lighting. Its 18 x 72 x12 I have in plumbeed into the maine system Which is 225 reef with 55 gal sump 55 gal refugium and this frag tank.

This is just what size im looking for!
Please tell me you remember were you got it.

Well I got the permission from my banker/interior designer/wife to install a prop tank. I plan to plumb it into my DT. I have been given rules.
1. It must look nice.
2. It must be energy efficient.
3. I must clean the garage.

#3 is easy enough but I'm working on the others.

I was wondering if anyone has a successful prop system using LED's. I plan to prop some softies but mostly sps and I don't have much experience with LED or know how much I'd need. I plan to use a 40g breeder but might go with a 20L.

So any one have experience or info they could share on LED's in a prop system? I'd also like to see some pics of some Display-Like prop tanks to help inspire my cause.

And if anyone wants to help me clean the garage I'll buy the beers.

rgfast is that metal halide on a light mover?? if so can tou give me some more details on it? and wouldnt just one of the light sources be more than enough?

The MH is on light trolly it has 6rpm motor and stop timer which I have set to 5 min. each end in the pic above bulb was 10k which I just changed to 14k the LEDs have 14 royal blues and 6 12k white. oh MH is 250 watt while the LEDs have total of 81 watts,

Comment to RHYS123....Your shed is a really great concept. I love the look, but can't help to worry for you about recovering your expense on the elegant tanks. We live in Torrance, California, USA and my husband is from Katoomba, AUS. We found ourselves struggling to purchase the wonderful corals coming from AUS knowing that the GBR is under pressure. We decided to cultivate what we have and try to add our aquaculture product to the market. We started off with a 12 gallon and moved into a 60 gallon frag tank in three months. I would be interested in knowing how you are going about returning your livestock to the market.

I have a fair bit of interest from the local LFS in my area (Perth) but it was not the main market that I was targeting.

I am the frag coordinator for our local club (which has a pretty good membership) and my primary focus was supplying the local and interstate club members with affordable aquacultured corals for close to no price at all or on a trade basis.

This allows the club members to obtain tank hardened corals that retain their colors and hopefully with a greater survival rate then wild sourced colonies.

Anyhow that is the plan so to speak

Not sure if anyone would be interested yet, but I am in the beginning stages of my system. Working on fishroom first 185 sq ft, future tank install over the winter...

This photo is of my 220gallon sump that has 750 pounds of live rock in in it, and my stand alone 40 gallon QT system with 250w MH.

Grow out tank is a 4'x4'x16" center overflow 4 sided viewable tank, with 4 400w MH and 4VHO atinic.

*My question is do most people run skimmers on there setups?

Ive been running without one and havent had any problems to date but have been thinking of throwing one on recently for precautionary measures since my number of corals are rising.

Finally ready to dump the fresh water and get the salt water flowing. Display is a custom 57 with matching 18x18 frag tanks all plumbed to a central sump. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic...
