SHOW OFF YOUR RARE amd HYBRIDS!!!

C. boylei will not be available ever again i believe because Chip Boyle is not collecting anymore due to illnesses (i think) Not many people can travel to the cooks and dive 300-400 feet for a fish :) The states will never see a boylei, they will all certainly go to Japan or hong kong for an unforseen amount of money! lol

Yes, that was what I was referring to. Would have never guessed coral beauty but great looking fish. Any idea where it ended up? Im guessing Japan

There have been a few collected and I would imagine they went overseas.

I am sure someone will be crazy enough to eventually collect these fish but I agree that they will not come to the US. For one, they are VERY difficult to take care of and there is pretty much zero literature available on how to maintain these fish properly. I wouldn't drop $10,000 on a fish just to watch it die.
Secondly, there are very few collectors in the US willing to spend that kind of money on a fish. I can see bidding wars starting on the next available Peppermint.:D

Has anyone heard of any Paracentropyge boylei being available in the states lately?

Chip's group is getting them again and taking orders on a demand basis... They'll come to the states if someone wants them to come to the states... if someone wants to sponsor me I could get a pair!:) Oh, and FYI the ichthyologists that know these fish the most consider Paracentropyge a subgenus at the moment...

i didn't know chip was collecting them again. There must have been a lot of demand for him to even consider it... lol not worth it IMO, although beautiful, but only one known alive makes it a turn off... haha

good info copps... as always

Hi John, and everyone. Congrats on the baby girl!:celeb2:
I have enjoyed reading this great thread and looking at all the photos. Besides, I just got my first angel..a 3" Pomacanthus navarchus..he's a beauty! Keep the stories and pics coming!

Ok back to the real world now for me. I do however have some pictures of the rarest of the rare angels (in captivity that is) as well as some other special photos that I brought home with me from Hawaii.

Drooling.. The Abes Angel is the coolest..

That butterfly looks like Lord Howe Island butterflyfish... But somewhat a bit different..

Thanks campbell for dedicating those pics to me, just makes me hate you even more!!!!! What's more beautiful than an interruptus swimming next to a masked. Did you bring any livestock back with you. Didn't you get a small bandit? That unknown butterfly looks similar to Marcellae. One last thing about that Tinker's shot you have there. Where was it taken? If in captivity where was it collected if you know. That Tinker's looks very different than mine. The biggest difference is the one you have pictured has orange on the dorsal and mine does not. Here is mine for comparision. Wonder if it is a color variation depending on where the fish are located? Oh and by the way campbell welcome back to reality. Regards, Tim

This Tinker's is not mine but found on a Japanese site. Note the orange on the dorsal.

Now here are a few pictures of mine collected in Hawaii. Dorsal has bright yellow.

I have been in love with the Bodianus sanguineus for awhile now. That is a sweet hogfish.

Hey I forgot about this thread. What do you all think about the difference between the Tinker's that were posted in the previous posts? Copps?????? Are they from different locales? Different fish? Color variations? Someone mentioned the one Campbell posted was from Lord Howe? Any concrete evidence to make that conclusion? Thanks, Tim

Not sure how rare these guys are, but I have never hve seen these available anywhere else.
