who knows?

It's probably been covered in the regal angel thread, but any ideas what this is? Hybrid seems unlikely seeing as it's its own genus.

I don't know. i think it's in Scott Michael's book but the only way to know is DNA. Could be a straight regal with a very local color abberation, similar to St Paul's Rock Koi's. Can't believe they haven't been posted. Naghayki pics thats it. I really love those blue Potter's. Would love to get my hands on one of those. I haven't asked one of my contacts about them. Time to shot an e-mail. Looking through these fish makes me start asking around. My newest desire is a baby dragon moray, which is in "season" right now. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks. Have a great weekend all. Tim

In season they are.... Just saw one with brilliant coloration at a LFS.

Here's some more wrought iron eye candy

C. mesoleucos is beautiful and relatively rare in the trade

C. flavocoronatus is extrmely rare and a beautiful mix of declivis and burgess markings.

Looks like a captive wrought paradise!!!! Where is that pic from? EZMarines? Did you see the dragon at Old Town? I'm scared how much? Tim

It's an old photo a Japanese reefer sent me from a LFS there. I'll dig around some notes to see if I can find exactly where it's from.

Yes it was from Old Town. The contrast between the gold and white was great. One of the best markings I've seen in a couple years. I didn't ask on price so can't help you there. ;)

C. flavorcornatus is a mix of declives and tinkers. complete tinkers plus the gold crown. no burgess in it (to me atleast)

i have seen a few small hawaiian dragons. My friend had one that was about 4" and thick as a pencil. So cool!!

tim - we will most likely never see a blue potters. there have been 4 collected that im aware of - all in Kona. 3 by one diver who kept one - other 2 to japan for a very pretty penny. The one he kept actually started to turn orange like a normal potters. Diet most likely, but interesting. No one in Hawaii can get those :)

Well actually it's its own species ;) Neither Tinkeri or Declivis has the crown. I mentioned burgess, or mitratus for that matter, because of the crown and the slender shape. It's funny the similarities between all of those deepwater Chaetodons.

Knowing I'll never get one we settled for a Declivis.

Villi, where do you work?

I'm looking for either one. Obviously Japanese would be nicer but harder to find and more expensive. I have a couple of people who should be able to get me one in the next couple of weeks. I may be selling my Meletremus and Borbonius if I get him. Don't want them to become a meal for this amazing piscivore. If anyone know where I can get one without paying a ridiculous price. As for the Butterfly's. I really love Marcelae and my favorite being the Wrought Iron. I do have a Tinker's Butterfly that I absolutely love. Not rare by any means but uncommon. Regards, Tim

The blue potters have been talked about before. IIRC, they don't stay blue in captivity?

Aren't they a complex, Roa, or something like that?

Actually the term I was thinking of is Roaops. Tinkeri is just one of the species in the complex.

Sedgro...woow excellent fish, ooking for one myself or for a Vanuatu femininus, cant get one for long time.

myerst2, Im not so familiar with the US market, but been offered more Japanese Dragons than Hawaiian Dragons in LA.

The Marcellae butterfly has got to be one of my favorite fish... However, I don't have $250 to shell out for LA's. A pic of theirs:

Sedro, That is quite an impressive fish. Where did you get that one from? LA's price for that Marcelae, also one of favorites and super hardy, is very reasonable. Especially because of their quality. I always for get what type of butterfly is this?
