Were you referring that towards me?
Of course! Very pretty. I've seen some pics of pink malus before too. They are a beautiful anemone.

Nice photos! That magnifica looks a lot like mine. I'm curious - since its been around for a long time in captivity... what is your feeding regimen? Mine seems to eat just about anything - at any time... I'm curious if my feeding schedule/food is going to work long-term.

Thanks

Really nice displays Ron, very inspiring as well ;) Got to love that Crispa display, it looks very realistic and natural.

Are these cubes connected to same filter system and would you plz. post some sump/ setup shots?

thx.

Ron- Those are just stunning. I have been contemplating the very same sort of anemone set up and its so good to see yours! Fantastic looking anemones! I am very jealous.
I may be setting up 2 or 3 40 gallon cubes, all acrylic without top bracing similar to your tanks.
Please give us some more info on the set ups!
Thanks for sharing.

thanks for the compliments everyone. much appreciated.

darkstar, i tend to feed very irregularly. sometimes ill go on spurts of every day, to every other day. or ill spread it out to several weeks in between. the anemone isnt fond of krill, but silversides are taken with gusto, as well as stray flakes and mysis shrimp. other foods like prawns and squid have been used in the past with good results. the anemone also reacts when i flood my tank with cyclopeeze, so im hoping some are being injested.

jadran, yes the system is connected to the same sump. but none of my equipment is pretty.

sonofagaladirel, thank you. i definetely want to eventually do a huge connected tank system, when i can afford it and am not in college, ill have my vast clownfish collection. heres just a few shots:

Thanks for the compliment. I bought it when it was really white and at first it wasn't eating but now it is a pig. I am feeding it everyday to help recover from its bleached state. I love the looks of it.

Here's a picture of my magnifica. I've had it 4 years now. It split about two years ago and I reckon it's big enough to do it again soon.

That anemone is troubling me, I've been keeping it on the strict diet to stay small because otherwise I could kiss my corals good bye.. On one hand I'd like to get comfy and grow bigger but on the other one I still kinda like acros , clams etc. When I saw Ron's display it all became clear.. Upcoming months I'll be saving up for double cube for my Maggy and another anemone, most probably crispa.. thx for bringing it to my attention :D

BTW. how strong are these MH above cubes and how much flow you got in there?

thx.

That looks like the perfect spot for a Ritteri/Magnifica! Very nice! I think you've got plenty of room for it to grow.... if it stays put ;)

thx. :) Yes, for the time being it is OK, but is doesn't look natural and even more importantly íf I would grow it big it would completely overshadow most of the space under its column and tentacles..even now a.nana under it suffers..:( When you feed it heavily you can see how quickly it grows, it is amazing!! I'd really love to have big , fat magnifica pig.. lol, like Paul, Tony, Ron and some other folks here at RC have..;)

I hear you. I have found that few things are as impressive to me as a very large anemone, such as a Ritteri/Magnifica or a LTA, with long flowing tentacles and a big column/foot with color. But the downside is that these creatures would really need their own tank, or a significant portion of a large tank, so as not to harm their neighboring corals, which can look somewhat unnatural to us although in the wild I'm sure its perfectly natural.
You could try putting some monti caps near the base of the rock column the ritteri is sitting on. Monti caps don't require a large amount of intense light and they are quite a bit more hardy that acroporas and may tolerate the overshadowing and ocassional touch from the anemone. This would fill in that space under the anemone rather quickly and give that area a more 'natural' look.
I've had a rose BTA grow out of the middle of one of my large green monti caps once, and although the immediate area of the cap bleached, the outlying areas of the cap not touch directly by the tentacles, remained perfectly healthy and colorful. It was quite beautiful. Unfortunately, the rose decided to move to a different location a few months later. The cap continues to do well.

mario, i run a 400w over each tank with lumenarc reflectors. i get great coverage and intensity. i love them. as for flow, im not exactly sure, less than i want i know that. but from a 3600 gph reeflo dart the flow is split to go to each tank. and over each tank there is another split: the crispa tank has two 3/4" sea swirls and the magnifica tank has two 1" sea swirls. i imagine im only getting something around 1000 to 1200 gph in each tank, if even that much.

i really like your magnifica. ive always wanted a specimen with short beaded tenticles like you and gary have. very nice!
