Unfortunately, my little guy does not look very good today. Totally squished up. I'm doing water changes in hopes he recovers. He was eating a few days ago and seemed fine. I'm hoping it's just a hiccup. *sigh*

That is unfortunate. Mine has been looking really well lately and is starting to inflate even more and eat more eagerily.

What kind of lighting is yours under?

squiddly, here's a pic of my sebae a week or so after I got him. He looked just like your's at first.

Here's a recent pic I previously posted. He'll turn brown green when he is healthy. Never seen a true white in the hobby, but I have seen plenty of bleached sebae's sold with no warning that they are not doing well. Feed him small krill daily. Don't stop till he's fully brown under halide lighting.

Good luck.

man i want a sebae now, they look really nice, how you think a sebae would do in a 26g with 4x24w t-5's (without individual reflectors)? i only have 130w of pc at the moment, so a bta would by my only option right now.

I kept a sabae under 36 watts of NO flourscents for about a year and a half. It found a rock with a perfect hole for its foot within 6 inches of the surface. I know they are usually found in the sand bed but it didn't seem to matter. I just upgraded to 110 watt PCs and it is still near the top of the tank. Mine was very white with purple tips when I first got it turned nice and brown within the first couple weeks or so. January will make two years in my tank. I'll try and post some new pics. It is expanding more and more every day.

I would advise no one to keep a sebae in a 26 gallon especially because of how sensitive they are and how big they can get. Not to mention you don't get very much stability in that size of a tank.

My avatar has a pic of my seabae...I'll try & post a full size pic when I get home.

I've had this one for about 1 yr now. Has at least tripled or quadrupled in size since I got it. Originally was a little white/bleached, but quickly browned up once it got settled in.

It's in my 45g tank under 4x95w VHO bulbs. My clowns host in it (as seen in my avatar) and have just started spawning within the last month (spawned 2 times so far). So I know my clowns are very happy with their nem :)

Also, it's down on the sandbed, but its foot is attached to rock.

Here's my sebae and story:

128005sebae2.jpg
128005sebae1.jpg

I've had it for over 2 years, got it on a whim on sale for $10(my 3 year old daughter wanted an anemone like the movie Finding Nemo). It was only 2"-3", brownish in color, and was more of a test to see if my clowns would host. I had a pair of clarki's and a tomato clown that were test fish when I switched to saltwater years ago. My tomato clown took to the anemone within a day of being put in the tank, and the clarki's would host but get chased off by the smaller Tomato. Since then, my clarki pair have mated and had fry several times, they would protect the eggs for a couple days then the Tomato and other fish would scare them away and eat the eggs. About 4 months ago they were protecting their eggs and were fighting with the Tomato. The female got pretty beat up, so I took the Tomato back to the store in hopes that my clarki pair would survive. (I never liked the Tomato, because he'd bite my hand viscously every time I was in the tank and constantly attacked all my other fish, even tangs twice his size.) Unfortunately my female clarki died a few days later and my male clarki had a beat up eye and nose. Since, my male clarki has taken over in the anemone, but his eye looks worse every day. I've tried to get him out to quarantine and treat, but he's too stubborn to be caught without causing any further damage. My anemone has survived through it all and has taken over half of the 90 gallon tank. I need to upgrade lighting(it has been surviving and thriving with only a 260 watt PC Coralife lunar aqualight), but I am waiting for better T5 fixtures to come out, maybe the new Current USA Nova, Aquactinics or ATI Powermodul I've been reading about. Thanks for reading my anemone story.

Good luck.

Thank you very much mwood. Mine is still moving aroun the tank trying to find a good spot. I'm afraid my lighting may not be great, I'm using compact flourescents and I'm thinking I may have to upgrade sooner rather than later. I'm feeding him small bits of krill and other yummies every couple of days as well as Reef Chili and am hoping he does great.

Thanks for the support.

Here's a shot of my sebae (and tenants) taken today. It's just over 12 inches across. Probably about 4 inches when I first got it about a year ago.

....I'm kinda thinking of selling the setup though because I'm a bit overextended on the hobby these days, so I'm not thinking of getting any new clowns for the anemone.....

Tony are you saying you are about to sell your magnifica..? ,,
