I know this is not a zoo post, but what is that hitchiker in that pic? I have several of these filament-munching "worms" in my tank and was always curious what they were called.

A Vermetid snail. Mostly harmless, but the mucous web it uses to capture food can irritate some corals....

I break them off of my zoo rocks. The ones in my nano definitely irritate my zoos. They grow back fairly fast though.

I just picked these up the other day. The centers are more yellow (they have a greeish tinge in the pic). I love them!

hmmm...(decides to bite tongue regarding PPE in general)

nice matt! can you show the unedited photo too? so we can compare?

Hey man, I didn't start the craze! :) Anywho the actual photo looks horrible, it was under actinic w/ strange camera settings, then I did some affects in photoshop... I said it up front it wasn't the real deal, just for fun :)

Here is a regular 175W MH 10K shot of the colony I took a while back.

OK well after looking at this thread I am going to be spending most of the remaining afternoon shooting out pms and begging to buy frags.
Great job on the pics all, i have to say this is the best thread on zoos that i have seen. Lots of variety as well.

How long have you had those again, Heuerfan? Those are looking the way mine looked before I lost them; puffy heads, white areas and wierd stretching...

Good luck! I'd hate to see someone else lose these beauts...

I've had them for 6 months now, the pictures were taking shortly after the lights came on so not all of them were opened. When i first got this colony there were tons of polyps, but i lost some i think because of over crowding? It seems there were too many polyps and not all of them could get light so they slowly withered away, but i'm also getting good growth from the polyps that do receive light. Plus the frags i've made seem to be doing well also.

I took a couple pix of my blue frags last night. It is my roommates camera but the resolution should be a lot better. I'll ask him how to adjust it and try to take some more pics. Heres 2 I got last night tho.

With flash

No flash under 175W Coralvue 12K

Yea I need to frag the main colony again since I can see it has all ready grown new zoos where I originally took these from! I must say, for blues these seem to grow pretty fast. That must be why they are the Kind Blues

IU wanted to post the ones in my dad's reef I like them alot, please dont think im stupid for posting in a "dead" forum. tell me what you think
