i have just introduced an lta to my 30 gallon reef tank. at first he was big and beautiful but now his "disk" arond his mouth is fat and puffy and he is shrinking. dose anyone know whats going on or has anyone had any experiance with an lta?

When you say just, do you mean today and it's possible that the anemone is acclimating.
Always check water chemistry first.
Is the anemone attached?

Here he is

Really does not look that bad, if your water is the cloudy and you have not been recently working in the tank you might have an issue.

Have you tested your water quality?

He is freshly intro'd and also should really be in the sand bed.
You probably would be helped best by giving some tank specs, age of tank, lights, all that good stuff.

tank is four years old, and lights were actually replaced when i purchased the anemone. should i place him in the sand? most of the sand is covered with live rock so that dosent leave him much space

Like Davocean said, that guy needs/wants to be in the sand. If it was mine, I would find a spot up against the rocks, with good flow and light, dig a little bit of a hole next to the rock, and try to get it to stay put in the crater you make in the sand. It should start to bury itself into the sand. May need to temporairily turn down the flow while it digs in, which may take a little while. Or you can place rocks around it to try to pin it in place too, but don't smash it with rocks. Don't forget to turn your flow back on once it attaches itself. AND COVER YOUR POWERHEADS WITH FOAM so you don't shred it when you turn your back and walk away.

Messing with nems isn't the best, they do best when left alone, but that guy looks like it needs a little guidance.

Otherwise, looks ok for a new one. Best of luck, I hope it does well for you!
