So I finally got my tank all set up " lights placement of tank and sump pluming and such" fill it up added salt I know I shouldn't mix salt in tank but I figured nothing in there yet might as well make sure my plumping and such doesn't leak well it's been 3 days and the water is still foggy and water is still white and cloudy what did I do wrong? I followed the measurements I read on the bucket of mixed and I have power heads mixing the water any ideas?

If it is just water and salt, it is quite unusual for it to be cloudy 3 days later. Even if you used tap water.

What's the temp? What's the SG? What did you use to clean the tank?

use more powerheads and use a filter sock in your sump. it should be gone in like 2-3 days depending how strong your powerheads are.

Temp should be 78-80

salt dissolves better in warmer water

Nope. Common misconception.

The salt most likely to precipitate from your salt mix is calcium carbonate. It has the property called retrograde solubility. It is actually more soluble at cooler temps and higher pressures. Just the opposite of what you've always been told. Mix your water cold, then heat after it clears.

So now the tanks "walls" are covered in white "crud sigh I understand I prolly did something wrong what would everyone think I should do to fix it?

If you added too much salt, you'll need to remove salt water and replace with new pure RO/DI water to bring it to the correct range 1.026
