Quick update.
I'm starting to see slight growth and encrusting on few corals.

My light is not the greatest but I'm looking to change that, hopefully it can take off once I do that.

Hey Marvin, yea I noticed that. I saw that I accidently posted same pics twice and wanted to edit them out but thing wouldn't let me.

Did you happen to check out that all you can eat korean bbq place that I have told you about? IT'S GOOD.

If you ever go, ask for Sandy and tell them that Richard sent ya. She will take care of you for sure.

Tray - I'm going to home depot in attempt to get that darn skimmer to work.
We will see how that goes and I will keep you updated. I don't want to hang it from the back but we may not have any choice if that doesn't work.. sigh...

Hey Sip. Haven't checked in with your thread in awhile. Your tank looks GREAT!! I didn't read back thru everything, I know your running LED's just wondering what you have and if you are running any other lights?

I just purchased 3 LED units. Very excited to get them. I actually had already purchased one from my LFS and ended up returning it after some major problems with them (long story). The brief time I played with them I was really impressed. I really like your purple monte!!!! I have an orange and purple rimmed monte and have not been able to find a purple locally. Another LFS guy (who I actually trust) said he has never been able to keep the purple color unless they were under MHs. Yours looks like it has great color. I may just have to bite the bullet and order one someday. Just wondering your experience with it.

I will tell you what, I will frag my purple monti whenever you guys come back down. You can get the water oxygenated or even change the water from wwc in Orlando they have done it for me before because I bought stuff from them before and they are generally very nice people overall and will be very understanding when you explain that you have a 24 hr of driving ahead of you.

Which LEDs do you have?
I have the marineland reefcapable 1w leds and while it's ok with my t5 supplemental lights (softies love 1w leds, sps and hard? not so much in my opinion)

I'm actually leaning towards a new led system at the moment or a mh system atm.
We will see how that goes.

Look into power LED chips, that's where I will be putting my money next if I decide to go LEDs.

While I really appreciate the offer, it is a heck of a drive for a monte frag!! lol. We actually went to WWC on our trip last month. LOVED IT! There was another LFS close by we really liked also. I will however take you up on your offer one of these days. Our corals were bagged for almost 36 hours (due to a long unexpected delay) and everything transported beautifully.

I ordered the following LED lights: http://us.aliexpress.com/snapshot/107536511.html?isRedirect=false I actually had one of these in my possession for about 3 weeks and was impressed with it. I've been following a thread on the chinese LED and most people seem pretty happy with them. Time will tell. I just finally bite the bullet and ordered them today, sounds like it takes 1-2 weeks to get them in. My dad is building a canopy for me to hang them from. I am building a temporary stand just to be able to play with the height and spacing before he actually completes the canopy. Since I need 3 units for my tank, I don't have the budget for much more. I have mostly softies and LPS. I really would like a mostly LPS tank but my tangs have other ideas. I like alot of the softies as well, for some reason though I just can't seem to keep my favorite mushroom leather. I have a couple other leathers that are doing great, but that one doesn't like my tank. I think I may need more flow. Plating montiporas seem to do well in the tank so I may try my hand at a few more sps once the lights are adjusted. It will take quite a while to get the lights up to the full intensity. It is good to know your experience with the purple monte. I really didn't want one that turned brown.

Wow so decisive !! It's so good to have spouse who is actively involved in the hobby as much as you guys do.

Those LEDs have been giving out great par from what I read. Please keep me updated how everything turns out.

Mini Update :

I traded Chuck from here in FMAS for this rbta with rock full of green fuzzy mushrooms and after two weeks inside my tank, the clowns decided to host it last night.

My wife was super excited and in her own words, it was "crazy cool".

kayo - it was pretty awesome. I was getting discouraged because it didn't show any interest for couple of weeks and now it's rubbing the crap out of it.

lostmyz - thanks buddy.
