Skimmer Advice

I should be picking up a 92-gallon corner tank next week. I've always heard good things about ASM skimmers and planned on getting a G-3 or G-4 with thr Sedra 5000. Any thoughts on these skimmers or suggestions on comparable models will be appreciated.

Also, I've had some trouble replying to PMs. I first had to get to ten posts but even with ten posts the messages don't seem to send. If you sent me a message I'm not ignoring you. I'll respond as soon as i can.

Use 2 Asm 4xx with sedra 1500s for my 600 g puddle. Have had them for about 7years. Really good reliable performace. Low maintenance.

Brian,

I had not considered a Tunze model. It looks like the ASM models, especially the G-4, would be able to handle more but it can be hard to compare different brands. Tunze has a great reputation so I'll definitely keep it in mind.

Tom,

I like reliable performance and low maintenance! Your "puddle" looks incredible and seven years of use is impressive so that's a very good endorsement.

I run an equally old EuroReef skimer. It's similar to an ASM G1 in size and also uses a Sedra 3500 pump. I did have to replace the impeller once, but otherwise its been running for almoast a decade now. Works great for my 65g

Euro reef was considered the best not too many yearrs ago. Asm is a close match in design but not as shiny using clear pvc vs acrylic. Performs just as well though, ime.

Yeah, I really like the enormous screw-down collar on the skimmate cup along with the big fat O-ring seal. It makes removal really simple and gives ample room for cleaning. It's way over-designed, but very nice
