@ mojo, ive been seriously considering 2 sc 302s on my 150gallon display with a 25 sump. its medium stock now, looking to go heavy. what do you think? you cant beat the price, also would you mod those stock pumps? mesh, or recirc?

e the psk 1000 would be a great fit and improvement over the psk 2500, and yes it is too much skimmer for the tank, loved it when i had it on my tank but even with 15 fish and packed with corals it was just to large for the tank
1sir why run two skimmer ? spend the money and get one good skimmer atb 840, skimz sm201 and list can go on
you can also buy the seaside skimmer on the chinese site, but it isnt names, but is the same skimmer

bang for the buck basically! why 2? i dont want any water passing through my sump without being skimmed. and money is deffinately an issue 
for 240, two skimmers have got to be better then 1. rite?

get a vertex in180 will handle your system, 2 doesnt always = to better, what is your space requirement and $ to spend ?

I'm considering a HOB skimmer for either a 40g/55g/72g FOWLR.
I'm considering the Bubble Magnus NAC5e, if not one of the Reef Octopus.
Any suggestions? It'll be moderately stocked and 20-25% WC every 2 weeks.

Check out the Aquamaxx HOB skimmer line. Essentially the same skimmers as Warner Marine.

That's true with the new Warner Marine line. They're very similar to the Skimz. I think Skimz produces them and Warner makes a few modifications and rebrands them.
The older WM's (with the exception of the K2) were actually made by JNS. If you look at a WM H1 it will look almost identical to the Aquamaxx HOB skimmer line. JNS makes skimmers and Aquamaxx (now) imports them.
They're all good skimmers.

you are correct. The new WM line is made by skimz. THe bubble plate on the WM line uses VBT ( a hole in the bubble plate ) This is suppose to make the bubbles rise better.
The old line was made by JNS and they also make Their own line and the Aquamaxx line as well.

im struggleing here... please help me understand something. in simple terms, the amount of water passed through the sump. if it is more then the intake of the skimmer, then the skimmer will not function to its potential. correct? example: 600 gph return on return pump with a 300gph skimmer, would mean only half of what pass through the sump would get skimmed. ok, so then how do you get the entire amount of water passing through the sump to be skimmed? my only solution would be a external skimmer, that is fed with a downdraft. i have a open sump with no baffles, is it better to have baffles, or a skimmer with a larger intake rating then my return gph? one more question? with the rite kind of thought process, and planning (careful planning) can any skimmer be turned into a recirculating configuration, where an external feed can be installed? thanks.
additional info. my tank is a 150 tall with a 25 gallon sump. i keep sps and i love fish! lol ive been battling nitrates as well as phosphates. lets say money is not a concern and see what info i get. what ive been looking at the most is the skimz 162 external and anything with a bb 3000 on it. thanks.

Some time ago i bough a super octopus 3000 external skimmer with a bubble blaster hy 300 pump.As time went by the pump got very noise and the waterflow slow down.The pump was replace with the new design hy 3000 pump,it turn out to be the most quite skimmer pump i have used on a skimmer.I want to thank Katie at vue technology for all her help

Great thread...need recommendation for two skimmers.... 800dt 1100 total gallon reef heavily stocked w fish....And 400dt 600 total heavy stocked fowler...I want all water going through skimmers and both external. Thanks!

If you like the Skimz Line look into the Warner Marine MF 251 the skimmer its self is made by Skmiz but has a better pump has an Eden/Ehiem and a better bubble plate. Warner Marine had Skimz make them, the only difference in the skimmer is WM is Blue. Yes you want your sump flow and skimmer flow about the same
