skimmer question

Roger,

I'm looking for a skimmer that can fit in an area of 7.5" x 8" in my sump. My tank is only 45 gallons for now, but it will expand to 90 to 125 gallons in a few months. Do you have anything for me that I can use now and when I get my new tank.

Thanks,
Mark

Until Roger responds to your question, let me provide my opinion about your skimmer question.

Given your current situation and possible upgrade in the future,
I would recommend you buy Tunze 230/3 skimmer that is suitable for your current and your future 125 gallon tank.

This skimmer is in-sump model that can handle up to 300 gallon tank. Also, as you may know this skimmer is known for its gentle mechanism toward plankton.

I believe you will be happy with its quiet performance and ease of maintenance.

Happy reefing!

You need an 11" * 6" area in a sump to ue a Tunze skimmer. Unfortunately I don't think it will work with the area you have specified.

Not knowing your sump configuration, but if you put a taller square container within your sump you could fit the 3130/2 in the space.

Good luck.

fwiw: I replaced an EV150 with a 3130/2 in a constricted space and have been very impressed with the Tunze performance.

To get optimum performance the water level needs to be constant and somewhere between 10-11". Otherwise it simply will not work.
