Skimmer Question

Hi guys,

I use to have a 200 gallons tank in Brazil but here my tank is a 120 gallon not heavily stock yet but will soon :celeb3: . Growing Sps mostly.

Well, I kept my previously skimmer which is a Vertex Alpha 200 but I'm having two problems with it:

1 - Almost no space on Trigger Triton44 sump which drives me crazy.
2 - It's always overflowing.

I know this Skimmer is too much for my tank and too big for this sump and I'm looking for a new one, more compact. People told me about Nyos but I never heard about it before. What do you guys recommend?

not familiar with the sump specs, but check out Dr Foster and Smith clearance sale... quite a few brands of skimmers for sale that might work for you.

2 x Aquamaxx for me - just replaced an older Lifereef with a new FC-120 in my 75g (to save space and a few watts), my 150g tank uses a ConeS-CO2. Very happy with both so far.

I have the reef octopus regal 150SSS with the controllable DC pump if you’re interested in that one. A little undersized for my tank but would be good for a heavy stock up to 140 gallon. $250

Aquamaxx here as well. Regarding the overflow, is it clear waste water? If so, I would allow the skimmer to drain back into the sump until the skimmer pulls more dry skimmate.

This is not happening all the time... I make it perfect tuned and then it starts to overflow

I have a nyos and love it. Setting up a new, bigger tank soon and might go with the biggest nyos for it as well.
