Slurp Guns

that would be pretty simple to DIY if you had the hardware. You aren't considering using one to catch fish in you tank, are you?

No, but didn't know the pro(s) or con(s) if anybody ever did. I got a large diamond goby yesterday and it wanted to jump out of the tank so I covered it. Now I am concerned it may jump into the overflow.

they really do not work that great in a tank environment. I grew up in FL and had a few slurp guns that I used when snorkeling and scuba diving. When used under water (the whole thing submersed including the handle) they work OK, not really great, but OK. Now I have cought a lot of wild fish with them, but to be honest, most fish collectors now use clear nets. When used in a tank you really do not get a good suction with the handle out of the tank.
