Sm. Regal angel in a mixed reef

It can work, but once in a while they will nip on corals, ether to steal some food from them or just out of boredom.
SPS are mostly safe, but LPS might get nipped on more - or even get eaten if found to be tasty.
Zoas are fair game anyway.

I don't mind if my regals nip once in a while on a coral - all I really care about is that the fish doing fine.

I would say your tank is to small sorry I know that's not what you want to hear.

I would say a juvenile regal can be fine in a well structured 60 gallon tank.
Regals don't need a lot of swim room, but rather lots of rock structures they can explore.
You also have to understand that a 60 gallon tank is not a long term solution for a regal angel.

I agree, and since they are very slow growers compared to a Imperator you will have more time to enjoy. Reselling a regal to a friend will be very easy. Who doesn't want a Regal Angelfish, especially a Redsea that is eating and was in some ones tank for a couple years? A ton of liverock is required with plenty of caves and tunnels for her to swim in and out of.

Hey thanks everyone both pro and con. Not hoping for a bias towards getting one. I do have a line on a small one and didn't know they were slow growers so learned something new. My concern is more towards the smaller the space and the less room for grazing equates to higher chance of coral nipping. I was hoping for experiences of what they did snack on if any. The tank has all types of corals and some are quite mature and grown out. As for tank space, there is one main structure and then magnetic shelves on each side wall so actually a fair amount of rock and swimming space

Rik small one might work in there for a bit, looks like your tank is established and corals have nice size and can take some nipping, be ready to rehome him when all your zoas go missing

that right there is what I'm looking for. Thanks. Although I'm ok with not having zoas I'm not prepared to see my huge colony of BBEB decimated. It's a highlight of my tank

haha yea thats what I was looking at, nice bbeb colony btw. Another option, have you thought about getting a baby majestic and watching it morph colors?

That's a navarchus right? Also a beauty but aren't I looking at the same potential for issues?
