I caught my Peacock mantis doing something pretty interesting the other day. I have had 5 large turbo snails in the tank for a couple of weeks now and he hasn't bothered them after taking a hit at them the first day I brought them home and realizing he cant crack it.
I couldn't believe what I saw him do. I witnessed my mantis shrimp burry a turbo snail with the creature side up in the sand. The snail then tried to free itself from being burried by stretching its body out of the shell to try to manouver out. The mantis ran up to the exposed snail and ripped it right out of the shell.
Pretty damn smart if you ask me....
Cheers,
