Smoothdog's 150DD build

Haha. Nice save!

P.S.: I'm not sure if you thought about this but that red will show if/when your sand moves. Maybe paint the bottom of the tank or lay something over that red paint to cover it.

Hmm, I was planning to have enough sand that it shouldn't be a problem, but now you've got me thinking about it.

You can get a sandy textured rattle can finish from Home Depot(rustoleum maybe) that you can paint the bottom glass with (on the outside) that would eliminate that problem and keep a nice sandy look if any sand moved. Just a theory

I might look at it but I'm thinking that if the sand blows off the bottom it would look odd anyway so I might just put something black under it.

How are you plaining on doing your rock work? Bonsai style?

It will definitely be minimalist. The only rock in the display will be for maximum coral capacity. There will be extra rock in the sump for bio filtration.

looks better in person... Thanks for the dinner, beer and frags smooth. He really knows how to treat his workers.

Thanks for the compliments all!

I went to level the stand today figuring it was bound to be a little off one way or the other and this is what I saw:

and from the other side:

Ya gotta love it when things just fall into place. :D

Time for an update! I've slowly but surely been progressing. Framed out the hood:

Built the halide mount and installed the doors:

Which puts me here:

I also got the return manifold built and painted black. I'm beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks kego. Been really itching to get this done and keep having to stop myself from taking shortcuts I'll regret later. :D
