Engina carolinae or Engina histrio maybe? If so are they good or bad?

Good job ID'ing your own snail, it's one or the other. I don't know what they eat specifically, but they are whelks, so they will predate on something. Others in the same genus are known to eat barnacles, worms, and other small animals including molluscs. Yours are most likely feeding on sedentary polychaetes or tube worms or else small vermetid snails. Many Engina species expand their diet beyond the preferred species once those food species become scarce, which may or may not be a problem in an aquarium. One or two will likely pose no problem in your tank, but a large population might.
