Hi I just received my first clam a Tridacna Maxima. After it was in my tank for an hour or so 2 of my nassarius snails were climbing all over my clam. So I picked them off and put them on the other side of the tank. Half-hour later they were back so I put them in another tank. My question is this normal or is there something wrong.

I have 4 clams and snails, crabs and even cukes climb on them but don't do any harm.

Mark,
I have over 30 clams in my tanks, snails of all types just climb aboard and clean. There is one type of snail to beware of Pyramidelline!

I may be mistaken but there were some posts related to this snail that looks just like the one you have mentioned but it wasn't the real thing. In fact it was a species that actually bored into the clam shell.

How long have you had them and where did you purchase them?

You might try a search on all forums and see if you can find the thread. It may have been abother species than the one you mentioned, so I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

From what I can remember the snails should have stayed exclusively in the sand but many found them climbing on the LR which alerted someone to ask DR. Ron.
