SNAP!!, Hummm is that a Mantis??

im glad im not the oly one who noticed the ninteresting comments in alot of mantis threads. 1/4"? that might just be a huge pod.

A good way to catch a mantis is to pull out every rock( I know it's a hassle) and put the rock over a bucket of saltwater and pour "soda water" over the rock. As soon as the soda water hits the mantis, it will come flopping out. The soda water will burn him a little, but they are tough and will be fine once they get into the bucket os saltwater.

I FOUND HIM!!!! WOO HOO!!!
And wow is he SMALL, less than an inch long and his claws are so tiny, I mean TINY. I can only think about the damage he can do when he grows up!

He is black with white bands at his body joints. Any one know what type that is and how big he will get? He actually looks cool, maybe I will start a Mantis tank.

Oh forgot to ask
The rock he is in is only one layer down so it wont be murder trying to get it out. Do they move around or stay with there home until they out grow it. I noticed with all my other inverts once they setup a home they will always sleep there. If he tends to move around I wont try and trap him and just take out that rock tonight and place it in my sump for now.

No I don't think so.
I only saw the whole thing for about a second before he darted back into hiding.

I think I'm going to place him into the sump for now.
I have not seen him again yet so I don't know if that was really his home or if he was just out on a walk about.

I will say one thing, my tank has turned into a huge array of life. Last night I had baby shrimps hatch and swim about tonight I had crabs lofting eggs all over the place. If some of these things actually grow up I could be rich!
