SnowOnyx and Rod's Onyx finally laying eggs.

bad news is in the process of catching these babies, i dropped my phone into my rotifer bucket... Yay, gotta go get a new phone tomarrow now.. ha

LOL

Hope you found a nice replacement phone. Nice clutch, good luck with them. Good news, found a Gig. Bad news, gone by the tome it made it through my "wait period".

So i finally can do an update ...

after my last failed attempt because of low rotifer count, i stocked up on roti's for this next batch... and we are on day # 6 and i still have about 50-60 babies alive, so things are going good

they are being held in a 2.5 gallon tank that i have half full so they are in 1.25-1.5 gallons of water..

this is the furthest ive gotten with a batch of babies so far, usually they were all dieing on day #1-2 ... so im happy as of right now :)

Pictures
...Apparently my camera would much rather focus on its reflection rather than the babies...

About the phone, I drop mine in the RO bucket while working with my fry. After it dry, everything works except the camera button.

My Rod Onyx hatched 1 or 2 days ahead of yours. Mine is on their 7th day post hatch

Very nice looking clownfish. What do you think the babies will look like? I am very excited for you. Congratulations.

i am not sure, i too am curious, and anxious just to see what patterns turn out, and which ones get more onyx ... it'll be interesting and im definantly excited..

on another note... To anyone who has bred clownfish before...
does anyone else's Fry tank stink? ( im doing daily water changes, havent had much die off... and if there is i siphon em out quickly as possible... ) i cant figure it out the water just seems to stink... after a couple hrs of doing a water change

I have been reading a lot so I don't have any "real world" experience but the water may smell because of the phytoplankton/food. What are you feeding them?

they are at the point of Brine Shrimp ... so there's still a little Roti's but mostly brine shrimp, and i was putting a little phyto in there for the roti's but not much... i guess it would make sence if it was the phyto, cause that stuff stinks ha..

Just a quick video :) some are starting to go through meta, woohoo im excited! :) still a decent amount alive

Just a Picture update, all them have gotten first stripe and some of them are starting to develop the 2nd stripe, although its hard to see

and lou i thought i replied to your post i guess not, the parents eat New Life Spectrum Thera +A, as well as Rod's Food.

Nice Crisp Orange ring around the eye :) thats why i <3 Percs, as well you can see i got 2 different oranges in there, the darker orange i would say is from my Snowonyx, the lighter orange variant comes from my Rod's...

Well kits interesting to see that all of them have very consistent head bands, so how rare are the snowonxy, how many do you think will look like snowonxy in your batch? 2 or 3 ? Very interesting I knew they are rare to come buy. I amm very impressed with your breeding skills. It's been years for me but maybe I will do it again. In any case please keep the pictures rolling.

I would love a pair

ill keep that in mind :)

Great job so far with the clowns!

Also, thanks for coming to NY to help with the hurricane.

im still new to Clownfish breeding, so im not sure, i was under the impression the flake part of it develops as they grow, so there still could be a few in there, but, my rod's and snow are 2 seperate oranges, ones a deeper orange than the other, if you look at the babies (hard to see in the photos) but you can def see some got the Rod's Orange others got the Snow Orange... but i am just excited to see how they turn out :)

Great looking babies. I did not use NHB, I wish I did for my patch

Thank you minh :D
