Whats he doing to get his corals so damn pretty?

 :bum: :inlove: :celeb1:

he know what to look for when he buys them. what he does is go's around to the distributors and hand picks all of the coral. but I have heard that a lot of the distributors will not let him do this any more only a few will let him in the doors. this is because he only buys one or two corals at a time. but that is what I have heard.

That is a rumor for sure. Steve is welcome at every wholesaler that I know of. He just got smart and stopped wasting his time there as all the cool stuff is in your tanks :) What might not be a nice looking coral to you, could possibly be unique to him. If people only knew what goes on behind the scenes to get nice stuff. Not just for him, but anybody. Everybody assumes that vendors are making a killing in their little businesses. Not true for most of them that's for sure.

HOW IN THE SAM HELL DO YOU GET CORALS FROM HIM????

I CHECKED THE SITE AND I KNOW THAT NO WAY IN HELL SHOULD ONE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2011 TO GET A FRAG????

THATS RIDICULOUS

COME ON 2011?

I have 13 Tyree LE. Couple ways. First off check popular on line frag farmers like Atlantis, fragfarmer etc. Many have Tyree frags. Second way is regularly check the propogated coral selling forum for people selling his frags. I have gotten 7 or 8 that way. Finally ask around your local aquarists for anyone who may be willing to frag one.

How do you know if there aren't women that want to be him and men that want him?

Tetra u nutt!!!! LMAO.....

Serious...you and the Capital buttons...always shoutin :)

Yup, Atlantis has a number of LE Tyree pieces, check their website they note which ones are LE's. Frag Farmer has some of the originals...another words Tyree got them from Eric and made them an LE as he does from many regular hobbyists who have something unique and cool. Clint at Diamondsinthereef.com has a ton of LE stuff. He is always high up on the list for Tyree frags. Finding folks here on RC who are willing to frag is excellent advice. It seems going slower on fragging is a good thing for the corals as well, he also has some notoriously slow growing pieces...you can't frag certain corals to often because they just grow so darn slow. Good luck in your search.

sorry bout the caps...not yelling just typing my butt off without thinking

there are only a couple that i really want...i dont think i would frag them if i had them either!!!!

There are reefers that sell their rarities to Tyree, you need to find those guys. Steve is just a marketing guru, cool guy to boot (at least on the phone). Not sure about the wholesalers issue, he is well connected with many folks who are connected to the wholesalers.

If you want to know how he colors up the pieces, buy his CD. If you want to know where he gets his stuff read these boards for 3-5 years. I'm not one of the players, but have met and traded with a few. All great guys and gals.

ejocam i just hear that from one of the LFS that just went out to CA and that is what they said. i am not trying to spred rumors just trying to get some info.

also it seems that the majority of the bigger fish stores in CA trade frag and keep the rare coral trade going. by the way where is this ATL and Aquarium City are these stores? do they have websites and so on?

ATL is Atlantis Aquarium, a sponsor of RC :D

If you visit Steve's site, www.reeffarmers.com , you'll see links to most the stores, or people that he aquired the frag from.
