Hi,
I'm so scared. I feel so bad for my babies. Shipping was delayed. They departed yesterday at 10:00am. They are supposed to be here tomorrow now @ who knows what time. I'm am so scared I am going to get dead fish. I don't see how they could survive with that much Ammonia built up in their bag. =( My poor Bartlett's.

MarineGirl411,

We sincerely apologize for the mechanical delay of your shipment. Our foremost concern is also the health of the specimens therefore, each specimen is placed into a plastic bag and filled with enough oxygen to sustain the specimen for up to 72 hours. This procedure helps to ensure safe shipment if there is a delay such as this during shipment. We would also recommend doubling your acclamation time and contacting us with any questions or concerns when you receive the order. Our records show that in we have been in contact with you regarding this delay and have documented the delay and your concerns. Please rest assured that we will do our best to assist you and your very important specimens via our 14 day Arrive Alive, Stay Alive Warranty. We are only a phone call away should you need further support.

Thank you. I am just wondering, do you know why they got sent to Memphis TN? That's all the way across the US. I'm in WA State.

Memphis is a break point for FedEx in the midwest. They send everything to one point so they can ship full loads across the country.

FWIW, I had a shipment get delayed in Memphis from LiveAquaria a few years back. The shipment came from Cali. It was very cold and the middle of January. The box was held over a full weekend and everything survived except a Solon Fairy Wrasse.

Hopefully everything works out for the health of the fish. :)

Seems like pretty good customer service, I've had things get delayed also most likely they will be fine Good Luck

Marinegirl411,

Thank you for your inquiry. As Aquaticman74 mentioned, Memphis is a major hub for transporting FedEx packages within the US, so it is not unusual for packages to be routed through there. We sincerely hope that your specimens arrive in healthy condition. If you have any further questions regarding your shipment, please do not hesitate to PM or call us at 1-800-334-3699.

I love DFS. They are one of the best companies. This is my first fish order or livestock order from them though. That's why I am so worried. I am wondering if it would help at all to add Amquel+ directly to their shipping bag while I am doing the acclimation drip? Please let me know. Thank you.

MarineGirl411,

We understand your concerns especially as it is your first order. When receiving your shipment we recommend following the acclimation procedures as stated on the Acclimation Procedure Guidelines included with your order. You may also access these procedures here:

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Hi,
I didn't order Small Anthias. I ordered the Medium. I know of another guy on here that did the same and you guys sent him all males as well. You found females and sent them to him or either refunded his money. I cannot remember. I just don't want the males to end up killing each other.

i dont think its their job to determine the sex of a fish, unless its in diver's den. when you order a fish from their regular stock I was under the impression they dont send particular sexes. sometimes it feels like people are trying to take advantage of Dr Foster & Smiths excellant customer service. thats just my opinion of what your trying to do but of course I cannot speak for drfoster&smith.

MarineGirl411,

We sincerely apologize for any misunderstandings regarding the size of Anthias ordered. Your satisfaction and the health of the specimens are of utmost importance to us. We would love the opportunity to speak to you and have left a message on your machine. Please feel free to call when you are able to and speak to a supervisor Kris, Sue or Donna, so that we can arrive at a satisfactory resolution. Though the sex of the Bartlett Anthias is not guaranteed in any of our sizes offered, we are more then happy to take care of your concerns with your order.

Of course I would never take advantage of Drs Foster and Smith. I've been ordering from them for years and love their service. I was just stating what I was told. That's all.

Unfortunately even if you had received all females there is still the possibility of more than one of them changing to male. It seems in a smaller system it is more challenging to keep anthias for that sole reason. When they are in smaller groups, if more than one changes you increase your chances of aggression between them. I've decided to wait for a bigger tank so I can keep a much larger group of anthias which will spread out the aggression. Good luck with your fish, they are beauties:)
