Soft Coral Dominated Tanks... Let's See 'em

I really like soft corl tanks, especially ones with lots of gorgonians. These softie tanks are just amazing! Anyone here hav lots of photosynthetic gorgs?

my tank is running since 2009 on softies... its a 79 gallon and the lighning is 4 x 39 watt ati bulbs (3 white + 1 blue)

it has been a long time i was here... my tank crashed in January through my broken heater .. was warming up to 95F... all the gorgones, leathers died... but i am back now again :p

really nice stuff from all - just goes to show you can have a beautiful tank without sps.

@Miranda - really nice to see the tank return after the crash. Love that arch with the frags on it.

@mabymoi - I've seen the Reefquarium tank in person. The leather in there is a monster - 12-14 year old. Also, he has these bright white Kenya trees in there which are completely surreal. Probably one of the best soft tank arrangements around.

MikeC's SOFTY TANK

I must say I couldn’t be happier with my decision to convert to softies.

After having my sps dominant tank for 2 years and loosing it to flatworms :( needles to say I was pretty bummed out.
I made up my mind to start over with a upgrade(because that was the excuse I had lol ) and also a Qt tank.

That was all set up and chugging along with some wonderful help from my fellow reefers that provided me with great frags to get me back on my feet(Thank you all you know who you are;).
Unfortunately one night RTN set in:(

All the while I still had some LPS and zoos that made the transfer and everyone that saw the tank being re-created always mentioned what wonderful movement my gonipora had and didn’t seem to notice the sps with the new growth lol.

Now I understand that the novices would say that but the truth was I enjoyed the movement so much better myself and I think I was caught up in the Social Stigma that soft corals are for beginners, easy and not taken seriously amongst the “real reefers”
Now don’t get me wrong i love and respect a well maintained sps tank but Im also not embarrassed to say Im proud of my non stresful Softy tank ;)

Hope you enjoy the photos AND MY WORK IN PROGRESS.
I would also love to hear from other soft coral lovers.

You have a beautiful tank MikeC, I'm in the same school of though as you aswell, sps are neat, but I absolutely LOVE the look of all the movement softies give you.

Great thread. I really enjoyed seeing the evolution of the tanks over the years. Please keep us all updated as time goes on!
