Those of you Solana owners who also own the VorTech powerheads, and have used the dry dock mod to position your VorTech in the center of the back of the tank, I'd like to hear from you on why you did this, if it works well for you, and if you like it better than side mounted etc...or vice versa...

Lee-mar makes one. You have to order it from a LFS not sure on the price.

I paid $150.00 for my LeeMar stand

The knobs I put on myself.

My solana is 2-1/2 months old and the skimmer wasnt working like it should, there wasnt any real skimmate produced in the last weeks.

Some times it just stopped producing bubbles, I had to turn the pump on and off to make it start working again.

Well I got tired of the poor performance from the stock skimmer so I decided to give it a clean, the was some minor debris on the pump, the red bioballs inside where all covered in debris and I cleaned then, the air inlet tube was clogged with some white looking debris (no wonder why it wasnt working)

After the maintenance the skimmer started working good again.... I will always clean the skimmer from now on when I do my waterchanges...

Added some cracked glass looking sheeting bought in the ceiling tile isle at Lowes. Simple solution for $5 :)

Sweet, now is the original glass in there and your sheeting is behind it or is that just replaced with the sheeting? Did you cut it or did they? I need to do something like this, the mess of wires that comes with the ReefKeeper is out of control. Need too hide it.
Share some details! :-) Looks Good.

I placed it in behind the glass and they are both held in nicely with the original clips. I cut it myself with a razorblade :)

Kevin, I got my sheet a Lowes last night, $2.98 on clearance. Cut mine and it works awesome. Great solution; tons cheaper than the $20 + for that stuff you stick on the glass and cut. Great idear...innovation of the year! :D

I just took mine to work and taped off one side and threw it in the sand blasting cabinet. Instant frosted glass.

Nice to have benefits at work! I don't have those.

Anyone with anemones on a solana? A close friend of mine has some very nice rose bubble tip anemones on his tank that keep spliting and he is gonna give me one for free...

Any tips on keeping a 4" rose bubble tip on a solana? I have the nova extreme pro T5 lighting and a koralia #1 for extra flow.
i have the same lights and bulb combination as you do. i do like the look of the light combo alot better. i also have a rbta in it, it is thriving. it sits probably 4-6 inches from the bottom. the rest of the tank is sps and zoas. it is getting pretty large and though i love it, i hope i dont have to remove any of the sps.

Trigger I frosted my glass with spray paint designed to frost glass.... It is available at Lowes ... it worked really well at hiding stuff in cabinet I will snap picture later today and get brand of paint.

Thanks! That would be awesome!
