Anybody using one of these?

http://www.current-usa.com/nova_extreme_pro

I see that they have a 20" version...

1083 20" Nova Extreme Pro 6x18watt T5HO 3-10k/3-460nm actinics 2 108w 20" x 12" x 4.25"

1092 Optional Hanging Arm Kit <- has anyone used this hanging arm kit on a Solana stand?

LL

There are a lot of people using that light and it seems like they have good results. I emailed current about that light a while back and they said it's comparable to their 150 watt sunpod. I also use the hanging arm kit with my sunpod on the solana stand and it's perfect. I'll post a picture when I get home.

Thanks...

Thanks...

I have had good success with Current USA fixtures on my large tanks (Outer Orbit MH w/T5 combos), so I am comfortable with the company's products...I'd just change out the bulbs at the first opportunity...

The Model 1092 has (2) two arms, not the single arm on the Solana lamp sets... So the model 1092 light hanging kit will mount on the Solana stand with no major headaches?

Thanks.

What made you lean toward the ATI? Do they include LED moonlights? Separate cords for actinic and "white" lights?

Does the 24" width "spill over" the sides of the tank? It didn't look like it when I was admiring your starfire tank...but I was concentrating on the tank rather than the light...

BTW, no leaks! :D

Thanks, Chris.

George,

When you were over the other day I only had 2 of 4 lights on as I don't care of the look of my blue lights, yet. There is some spill over for sure...here you can see when I have had all 4 on in the past. I mainly went with this fixture due to how it looked, I loved the design of it. And the top of the line build they have. They don't have LEDs, there are two power cords and a power converter as well. So I guess you could have two lights of actinic and "white" lights, sure. Thats I guess what I have turned off, the blue actinic lights, I like the white look myself.

All 4 on look like this...

Ok so it's not too easy to get a pic with my 2 kids pulling at me and having to get to sleep because I have to work at midnight but here goes Also I turned the pump off today and no problems no overflow of the tank or the box.

IMG_3772.jpg

Mounting it like this should keep you clear of any overflow for sure and allow water to run underneath the dry dock for sure. I didn't want mine sticking up that far, you might share a picture of more of a full tank shot so others can see how it looks in general with the full tank. Having the dry dock this far up does allow water to flow fine underneath and and shouldn't overflow if the pumps go out. The only worry would be if the power head inside the tank came off and fell into the tank allowing the box to then drop some in that second chamber and then risking flow restriction and overflow. A very rare case I would think.

Regarding the Dry Dock, I'm going to have my LFS build a dock that fits the 3rd chamber. They have a spectacular acrylic worker they go to that builds all kinds of acrylic tanks that ship worldwide. SCORE!

On a sad note, the tracking for my replacement Solana for the one UPS broke last week looks to be broken as well. I will know for sure tomorrow.

TriggerHappyDude - Please locate the exposure compensation button on that fancy Canon. You're just killing the retinas here.

Yeah, I've always had great luck with current stuff too. It mounts very easily to the stand. Here are some old pics after I first put everything together.

dustin,

how does that bracket connect to the stand?

the back of the stand has a wood brace on the top and nothing on the bottom, which must leave at least an 1' of space between the bottom of the brackets and the stand. does it come with hardware or instructions on how to overcome this?

mind snapping a picture of how the bottom connects?

thanks

The stand had the wood bracket that comes with it for the top that makes the 2" overhang of the stand top run flush... So the brackets just mount directly to it. I'll try and snap a picture in the morning. It's very simple though...

I just realized it didn't post the actual link. Just type in the search on MD current usa hanging and it will pull it up. It's $75...

I decided to go with the Current USA Nova Extreme Pro T5HO 20 inch 6 x 18 Watt fixture and the 1093 hanging kit (cable from ceiling)

how do you like the hanging kit? does the arm hold up your light pretty good? i'm looking for some arms too...was thinking about getting the zero-edge lamp tree but don't know if i want to spend ~$175 for it...the price on this kit is a lot more enticing...
