I think i have it level in 2nd and 3rd chamber but first pours over not just from the skimmer gate but also from the corners but this seems normal to me. I think the skimmer needs more breaking in still water in the cup bubbling out though

Thanks for answering, my SPS don't have a healthy looking for some reason. I though it was lighting. Even one of my lobo coral is fading on the bottom of tank, all my parameters are in the range with the small fluctuations, LPS will be affected by that? my acan is fine just lobo. what should I look for?
How do they not look good? Post your parameters. People always say they are good, but from what I have seen, they seldom are that good. It is pretty hard to help with so little information.

the whole idea about Refugium and skimmers on small tanks
comes with good/bad results (skimmers take out good and bad stuff out of water)
Including nutrients/elements
Normally a 5/10g water change does the job (by replenishing such)
it all depends on what you are wanting to keep (coral wise) sps/lps/softies)

I run chemipure elite and grow cheato
I also keep up with my water changes
live rocks/sand for back up
Everything is running smooth

The whole idea about all in one tanks
is the reason why you want to keep things simple/clean
with no extra additions.
hope this all helps for future decision making/New gadget addition to your tanks

this is just my experience (I'm sharing it with you guys)

I think Chemipure is a great product, but I will never use Chemipure elite again. The elite uses the worse carbon I have ever used. It takes gallons of RO/DI water to rinse it. There are much cleaner higher quality carbons available.

What carbon do you use?

Glad you like it.
if you have any more questions PM them to me
I will help you out and snap new pics.
I recently added a "fuge light" to grow cheato
pics coming soon.

Thanks Felix, I need to make the picture bigger got to figure that out anyway:
15lbs carribean LR
15lbs pacific deepwater LR
25lbs Live sand(started with 20 added 5 2days ago tank has been clearing up ever since)
Sapphire skimmer(still struggling to break in)
JBJ ATO with 5.5 gal reservoir tank
Hydor koralia 1
PC lighting
Like I said just setup last Friday temps hovering around 79-80 degrees ph a little low 7.8ish, I may need to boost the cycle as no significant ammonia somewhat high nitrites though

is there a reason you went with PC lighting?
seems to be one of the weaker types of light choices
specially on a 20' deep tank.
Why not T-5?
f.

It came with the tank I bought it used pretty good deal , I was looking at T5s, Halides might be too hot but decided I would wait and upgrade when I was able to get more advanced corals and tank more established put $$ towards the initial setup

Makes sense.
looks good. Not a bad start.
I would work on a nicer roxscape
besides that... welcome to the most addicting hobby ever!
f.

Don't know much about scaping I like this mainly for coral colors and shelves for later stock I may need one more rock to complete it though

First off I am sorry if this has been asked before.

Has anyone put a nano wavebox in a Solana?
I noticed that Solana's water level is pretty close to the top of the rim of the tank.

Thanks

From time to time I run my Vortech MP20 in Short/Quick pulse mode on max flow and the waves never spills over the top...at worst it barely touches the top/rim of the tank...so a wave box shouldn't be an issue...unless I'm missing something here...

Can you explain in details how you get a wave going, I've seen video where a Vortech is running in a Solana and there is a wave, but I can't seem to get one. Where do you have the Vortech mounted; how far from top and is it in the middle, back, front etc...I'm going crazy trying to get one going.

My MP20 is sitting about 3 1/3 inches from the top on the right side of the tank (right in the middle on that side)...I have it on "Short Pulse" mode with the "velocity" set at about 1/2 to 3/4. For the pulse part, it's at about 1/4...my suggestion is move it all the way down to - and slowly work your way up to +...when I say slowly, I mean slowly...all you need to do is barely turn it just a tad bit and you'll notice a change. The pulse has to be set just right to make the wave. If the setting is anywhere close to 1/2 then you've gone way to far...it should be around 1/4 +/- a little turn here and there.

I've tried it at max velocity/power too but it justs drives my RBTA crazy and it moves all over the place...my SPS loves it though...

Are the DFS Ecocube and the Current Solana pretty much the same thing?

They look similar to me, only thing I can find is that the DFS tank is an 18" cube and the solana is a 20" cube...

yes they are the same. they are the new smaller version of the solana that they sell at marine depot. They even come in a current solana box
