On another note... I just discovered that the Penguin Rite-Size Filter Cartridges Size A fit perfectly on the tray in the 2nd chamber. I'm going to be using them from now on instead of floss.

Good find MedRed, I will have to try some too.
Did you buy some at a local pet store or online?

Lonewolf, I see what you're doing with the hanging fixture. Did you take those legs off yet?

That's a nice looking stand. What kind of stain did you use?

I bought them at a petco I think. Petco/petsmart typically have great prices on dry goods.

The picture was when I first got the light tree done... yes I did remove the legs and I moved the light tree to the left side of the stand which centered the light over the tank...

Thankyou for the comments on the stand.... I used a combination of cabots wood stain and 6 coats of polyurethane to protect the stand....

I used a 2 liter bottle when I first got my tank 2 years ago when I had to go out of town for a week...but that was just temporary as I didn't have my Tunze ATO yet...

Did you have any problems with the 2-liter?

I need something until I tear down my 58 and transfer to the solana... Don't really want to buy another ATO just for temporary.

that's a very simple, (yet bright) idea for the 2 liter. That's what I'll use when going away on vacation/etc. It's ugly but it'll work.

You might want to test it out before you go on vacation to see how long it'll last for you...it'll vary depending on temp of your location...it lasted me a week during the winter...haven't tried it during the summer...

Right now, the way I have my cube setup, it'd only last me about 2 days, haha.. tons of evap. Hopefully the solana won't be so bad.

How do you like your Tunze ATO?

Hey all,

Recently acquired a solana from one of the members here... I am transferring all the inhabitants from my previous tank and I have a question that I hope one of you can answer:

I have a sand sifting starfish that I wonder if I can transfer to the new tank... The sand bed is about 1 - 1.5 inches.

I don't want to place it in there if it is going to starve to death.

Thank you.

Love the Tunze ATO...I'm using a 5.5 gallon tank with it and that lasts me a little over a week being that I don't have central air in my house...just got a chiller a week ago and that's helped with the evap tremendously...the ATO keeps my parameters steady...I like it so far...

I think I finally have my Solana straightened out. The new pump arrived today for the Sapphire Skimmer and it appears to be working perfectly now. I still have to change the bulb out. My temperatures are back to within an acceptable range, and the tank is clean again after my orange rose bubble found its way into the vortech Saturday night.

Well I just joined the Solana owner club! It is up and running with the new sapphire skimmer in the mail! What lights are most of you running? I am doing the 24' Sunpod 150w HQI with 14,000k phoenix bulb... Is that enough for clams, acans, and chalices?

12gallon.. Nice purchases! I have the 150 watt MH Sunpod over my 30 cube which is about the same as the Solana, and haven't had problems with lighting. If you're finding the corals aren't happy, try moving them up slowly. Very nice bulb choice. How do you like the looks?

I've seen many different setups with tons of different lighting choices.
