what custom tank are you getting for a $150 ? cant even get a glass cages tank that cheap, these systems will probably run 1500-2000. its basically the same set-up i have 2x2x2 = 60g my gc with 3 sided starfire delivered was almost 700 just for tank

He's talking about just shipping it, not the actual tank.

I called a some other stores a couple days ago, still no pricing or confirmed arrival date. Maybe someone else got something this week? (hopefully)

I like the idea, but if that really is the price range you could get a custom tank with external overflows and starfire glass made and shipped for around $1000. I am sure I could make a sump and stand for a couple hundred more of if I don't want to make it I could pay someone to make a custom sump and stand for somewhere in the $900 to 15000 interval. I think if that is true this setup is very overpriced for what it is.

Macs look good and work well...if thats a complaint then I don't understand it? If you think its too expensive, then its not the tank for you. Move along...

I can get a similar tank (rimless 60 cube, reefready, 3 sides low-iron glass) and stand from glasscages for $900, customize my own sump for probably about $50, return pump for $100, lumen max reflector for $150, Ice cap ballast for $130 and $75 for a 250w radium. that puts me at $1405 for basically the same stuff. The included ATO is garbage so I'd have to buy a decent one separately (osmolator?) and i would not use the glass tops so theres no need for me to factor them in. I will, however have to figure out some sort of bracket for hanging the pendant fixture, not sure how much that'll cost but theres no way it could put me over $2000. Now I've got extra $$$ to spend on a skimmer, vortechs, controllers, ozone, corals, fans, reactors, etc... I really thought the price on these was going to be ~$1500 thats why i was interested. $2000 is ridiculous, just to put it in perspective, you can add another foot onto this tank, still 3 sides starphire, now its 3x2x2 with tank, stand and sump from gc and get an outer orbit 2x250w w/T5's for about as much as Current is trying to sell this tank for. IMO at that price is doesn't make any sense to buy it.

Hahahaha, now if you are going to compare glasscages tanks to these, I don't even want to talk to you. Have fun with that tank.
Not even comparable tanks there.

no there not like mac ELOS is like macs and for that price might as well buy one.

This is a better comparison than the glasscages one above, I can agree with this...but you won't find an ELOS 60 gallon for $2000 with all the same equipment. They will be more.

well that stinks. thats too much IMHO for that setup but it may not be too much for someone else. I understand what skeptic is getting at here. lets not discredit him because he used a bad example. There are always 2 ways to skin a cat, right?

I personally see my money better spent having a custom tank builder make me a tank and Ill make a custom stand. Others may think to have a cabinet maker build a stand and be done with it. I know that its going to cost me 520 for my tank and 120 for cabinet grade maple ply for a total of 640. Lighting will be 325 and plumbing plus misc stuff will prolly total me out at 1k. for a custom 2ft cube however thats not for everyone.

It does look like a nice tank whether you agree with the price or not.

Yes sorry wasn't trying to discredit him, but the glass cages was a bad example tank comparison. I understand his point though. Might have to see them in person to truly appreciate them.

Hey, everyone has their own opinion. I was only using glasscages as an example because their website makes it very easy to get a price on all sorts of tanks. To me a tank is just a tank. Its static and has no moving parts. Really what you pay for is materials, shipping and labor, which cannot vary by more than $500 per unit. This tank offers no extra features that are worth anything so what else is there? The brand name? Sorry but i'm not paying more for the Current brand name, LOL. The extra money goes to the middlemen. I'd much rather get a custom built tank and stand from the source and use the extra money for good equipment rather than paying through the nose for a 'me too' aquarium. Know what I mean Vern?

you need to see the difference in a quality high end tank vs. a std. tank. after that you'll probably change that statement that a tank is just a tank.
