Solutions to keep Ca reactor from clogging?

Interestimg, where do you buy them?

this came on an old deltec reactor I bought years ago. They use the "valve it down pre reactor" method I mentioned earlier in this thread that got breezed over.

either way the filter serves the same purpose on the input or out put sides and works very well. I cant remember the last time my reactor clogged.

Not sure where deltec gets them but my guess is Ryan Herco can come up with one.

i use a Carbondoser reg couple with a masterflex pump, just set it and forget it. no clogging, no messing with it, test Ca once every few months

I'm definitely noodling with the "pre-throttle down" as well. Definitely didn't breeze over

But why not combine this with a smaller feed pump? GEO recommends an MJ1200 for my 624. Why not just use an MJ 400 which is plenty capable of filling the reaction chamber but would require a lot less throttling back. Makes the extra 800 "MJ units" superfluous I'd recon?

Absolutely. You could use an aqualifter even. You don't need any pressure in the chamber. For a long time I fed my giant geo with a tiny. 75gph micro pump. And that was still overkill for the most part

Now I a just have a simple tee to. A John guest fitting off of my return.

I have a little in DIY reactor that just pulls water in like a Venturi. No feed pump at all even

Jimmy you can, but since it is not continuous duty you will have to figure out how long it can run and use a timer.

Not sure what your budget is, but I LOVE my cole parmer pumps. Words can not describe how easy it is to dial the reactor in when you have exact control of the ml/minute through the reactor, and exact control of the bubbles with the Carbon Doser.

I can easily control my Alk within 3 ppm daily. I can also easily raise or lower Alk. It makes dosing seem like a giant pain in the ***.

Check out EBay, you probably can snag one for $350ish.

I have a buddy that just got one of those cole parmers. Snazzy stuff.

The advantage to my new tank is that it's all under the sump so it gets checked daily. My old set up was a basement sump and 2-3 days, even a week could go by, with out knowing there was a clog.

The only real leap of faith now is vacations. If I have serious concerns a webcam and my Apex could be used to monitor and shut down potential issues.

This has turned into an awesome thread. Thanks guys. Great ideas.
