Some artistic pics...

Well the other night I decided to head down to the beach to take some pics with my new DSLR. Unfortunately, we got there about 20 minutest too late and lighting was horrible. With my amatuer skills I got some blah pictures, so I started messing around with Lightroom and came up with these. I thought they were kinda cool, so I thought I would share them. Let me know what you think!

BTW that's Catalina Island out there...

i like them, if only the sky wasnt so blown out they would be a lot nicer. I have the same camera, but unfortunately not such a great location to take pictures in :) have fun and keep shooting/posting

Yankees - Thanks, I know what you mean... On a couple of them the sky is extemely white, but I don't mind it, I kind of like the effect.

TS - Thank you sir, I will try that later when I get home and see what I can do. Thanks for the input!

My sister goes there and she can see Catalina on the clear days from her dorm room and it is absolutely gorgeous over there

Sweet. That's sort of what I'm getting at talking about being torn between image accuracy and pleasing pics. These are not accurate duplication of subject but are enjoyable.

+1 for TS's suggestion about making the island seriously black.

your 100x better at lightroom than me! LOL
that program is confusing, I like cs3. :D

I felt the same way when I first got it! Go to adobe's website and check out the tutorials... it will help A LOT! It gives you a quick rundown on the basics and shows you where everything is. Turned out I wasn't even in the developing screen before

Reefbass - I will see what I can do

The images where the horizon is 1/3 of the way up or down are the most pleasing to my eye. Great photos otherwise.
