I think you would have better luck with a winter swap. It is easy to imagine an Alaskan summer is a treasured phenomenon! Of course, I have never seen snow.

Yeah, I like the summer a lot up here but the winters are long. We've had two weeks of below zero, it's killing me.

I've never seen below 28 (and that was once). I can't remember the last time I saw frost on a windshield. It usually never goes below 32 the whole year. Were in the 70's-80's right now.

Sounds nice. My wife HATES the cold, I can stand it just fine but she really doesnt like it, we will probably end up moving within a couple years. I've got to get photographing, I dont have much time left!

Gaining minutes every day! We are up to the double digits above zero and it feel, dare I say "warm" at 14F degrees! Just got back from Homer this weekend myself. Recty, was that area by the Kenai all in Hoar frost when you went down? God it wass unreal, the white everywhere and the turquiose of the water. Stunning. Got some cool eagle shots too but I won't clutter up your thread so I'll start a new one once I do some sorting.

Cold schmold, you just can't beat this place on sooo many levels (availibility of reef critters not included, lol)

Heh, well I like it here until the cold is COLD for two weeks straight, then I'm looking for a new place to live.

You're right though, there are a lot of benefits to living in Alaska. I probably wouldnt even be considering moving if it wasnt for my wife. She has some thyroid problems which basically make her feel chilled all the time, even when the house is 72 degrees. Wintertime just about kills her... so we are thinking about moving somewhere she can feel better.

And yeah, that whole area was covered in frost, looked awesome. Most of Anchorage was like that too, I got some neat pictures just around my place and some over by Jewel Lake.
