Some people might recognize some corals in this video.

Hey all. I got bored and couldn't sleep, so I put together a video of one of my 90 gallon thanks. The video has images of a bunch of the stuff I took home from the frag swap, so maybe you will recognize some pieces in my tank.

Careful opening this at work. Music starts playing.

Yeah, that's his HOMEMADE LR and I can personally vouch for him in saying that it is AMAZING!!! Anyone needed LR should definitely hit him up to make some for you. That shapes that he making are AWESOME! I haven't had a chance to thank you Aaron, so thanks! Yesterday at home, I found what looks to me as an Anemone growing which was amazing because it took me like an hour and a half to get home because of traffic!!! Thanks again!

Yeah, I made aragocrete for all my tanks and have been enjoying excellent results. Bladerunner, if the anem is a rose bubble, I have been looking for him and would like to get him back. LOL. With any actual live rock (like the stuff I gave you) there is a good chance you got some aptasia (should be very small with long wavy tentacles and almost translucent looking). Put some crazy glue over the anem and it will die. Leave it be and it will possibly spread through your tank and can sting your corals.

That is just one of the reasons I decided to make all my own live rock. no aptasia, majanos, hydroids, flatworms, eunicid worms, asterinas, nudibranches etc....

Hhhmmm, I know it definitely isn't a Rose Bubble, but I actually think it could be aptasia now that I think about it! I just saw it last night and didn't really get a look at it. When I get home tonight, I'll try to take some pics of it. I was soooo excited too because I want to get an Anemone, but I was going to wait fro my tank to mature first . . . :(

You are doing the right thing by letting your tank mature first. Give yourself at least six months before you decide to get an anemone.

I was just kidding about the rose bubble. But if you find one, I am always looking for them.

Airinhere,

Very cool! Just curious, how big was the file that you uploaded to photobucket and was it hard to do?

Also, different topic, but I am curious how you made the aragocrete. I made some a while back, but I think I didn't get the proportions correct. It wasn't porous enough and didn't really work out well.

Again, Very Cool!

Michael

The file was 52.9MB. I have comcast high speed internet and it took about 20 minutes to upload onto the photobucket site. It was really easy to do. I just clicked the add video button and typed in a name for the video.

Never had any problem with making the aragocrete. (Except I learned that oyster shell ruins aragocrete).
I do use aragonite sand (like I use for my tank sandbed) when I make my aragocrete.
And I add the salt dead last before I start sculpting. Less salt contact time equals larger grains of salt (larger cavities in the rockwork) and stronger rockwork later on.

Thanks for the info Airinhere.

Yep, I used the oyster shell. Next time I'll use the aragonite sand and salt method.

Regards,

Michael
