Thats kind of a funny website, for anyone who has ever kept sps it might be hilarious. If you look at the growth pics there actually doing themselves more harm than good. Most of the pics (taken after only 10 days) show nice signs of bleaching and loss of polyp extension.
Besides the huge amount of energy savings, LEDs are single point lights and allow for "shimmer" like you get with MH's. I predict it won't be long and we are going to see a huge technology leap in aquarium lighting.
Good idea, but like Jason pointed out, the growth pictures are doing them more harm. Perhaps it is because they are in a new tank and after awhile they will start to do better...but they definitely look healthier in the first pictures.
the par is not terrible for what it is. That bleaching could possibly be due to crappy water. It would be interesting to have someone run them on an established tank to see what they do.
Yeah, if you want to see what they will do in crappy water I am your guy...
When I looked at the pics I saw what I believe they were trying to show. The growth was decent for 10 days, but as you all said I would have waited for full polyp extension before posting. Also, I could grow coral in my basement with no light for 10 days and get the same results, so I am not a fan of this whole 10 days thing. Show me a month of growout and I might become a believer.
