I agree with the umbrella design. The local areas could get as small as a few people that hangout at someone's house and talk fish. We really should continue to push membership as it is what makes the world go round and there is no reason each area couldn't have a local frag swap or speaker.
Maybe then the GIRS board could focus on only 3 events a year and have the time to do them top notch. I was thinking one goup wide "big TOPIC" (we should focus on the topic not the name) speaker, one group wide and club sponsored demo day, and the GIRS Annual Frag Swap.
Then these 3 items can be planned in advance and everyone can plan a year in advance to make it or not.
