Sonicboom's 180 build in Tampa

Thanks maddmaxx, I ordered the corner ones originally but that tank was cracked on delivery, this was the replacement and I think I like it more, I may have some bad news about this one though, I'll post some pictures ones I get home, it looks like the front pane slid left about 1/16.

Here is the warranty if anyone needs it,

So it seems to me, and everyone can check their tanks and let me know if i'm being OCD or just super careful, but i don't want this thing blowing out on my kids while they are standing in front of it. It looks like the front pane is slid to the left.

this shows a sloppy mess of silicone near the frame, then you can see silicone, followed by silicone tearing as the glass is uneven, then the darker grey is the edge of the side pane.

and now for the one two punch, the skimmer I ordered two weeks ago, the Bubble Magus BM200 PN Pro was also damaged in delivery, and BM might be releasing a new model and may not have a replacement for me. Man it seems like it's not meant to be...

Sonicboom,

Thats normal regarding the uneven edge. You have to remember these tanks are hand assembled and do have imperfections.

Thanks quezei but I cannot believe that's normal, my original 180 was flush on all corners. I was also in Petco and looked at a couple of their tanks and they were all flush. I'm waiting to hear back on a replacement, better safe than sorry

So FAOIS will replace the tank as long as i get it back to them and accept the replacement "no questions asked"? *** is that?.. this blows, first of all i paid them to bring it to me, and second "no questions asked"? so if it's missing a pane or has some other issue im screwed.

on another note, I installed the Polywall all over the inside of the stand, great idea on drummereefs post.

I like the way everything coming together! Looks like your a closet stand builder maybe you should quit your day job and get into carpentry:eek:!keep the updates comin! Subbed!

Thanks Newbie Aquarist, not sure on style of tank yet, the skimmer that hasn't arrived yet should be able to handle some corals but I will be taking it very slow starting with FO so i can teach the kids as much as possible. we had a lesson on overflows, sumps and return pumps this morning, talking to a 6 year old i had exactly 12 seconds to break it down before she said "Squirrel!" and wandered off...lol

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Hahahaha:beer:

So here is the tank fresh water fill test and obligatory kid in the tank shot(s) all in one...enjoy!

step one, have pep talk and inform hyperexcited child NOT to thrash about, push off glass, dive from supports, or cannonball from rim...

Let hyperexcited kid acclimate in 67 degree water.. It should start moving about on its own..

Step 3, once acclimated limbs should begin to relax and wander about..

We have movement!

they will even come to you for feedings

Once you get the tank set up you know she is going to want to go inside. The temperature will be about 10-12 degrees warmer.

Man i'm going to keep fighting just a little longer, then i may just sell before i get too deep. Here's why,

Ordered tank; tank cracked on delivery truck
ordered replacement, replacement front pane is shifted left by 1/16th", delayed 5 days waiting to fill until Aqueon puts it in writing "that is normal".

Ordered Bubble Magus BM200 Pro skimmer; skimmer out of stock and discontinued, cancelled order, search continues.

ordering custom sized sump 42x18x18 from Trigger Systems, they respond to 1 email per day and the response comes usually after midnight.

Ordered Tunze Silence Electronic Re circulation Pump 1073.05; back ordered 2-3 weeks...

Great.... Showed this to my 5 and three year old girls now they want to go swimming in the fish tank.

Work through the hassles, should be worth it in the end, every thing in this hobby is about patience. I say that but I'm having anxiety attack currently on my tank design...

Haha, Monkey see monkey do. I told her Sunday i am draining it and she can hold the hose inside. . Hopefully the rest of my bulkheads should be in and i can finish plumbing. Then to find a sump....more patience. .

Ok, so i got my bulkheads in and upon installing them noticed that they are both made to fit a 1" bulkhead. How do i know? because i ordered a 3/4" bulkhead and it wobbled all around and when i installed the 1" it only moved a hair. So i have 4 1" bulkheads. with that being said, and the returns being in the rear of the tank instead of the corners, this is where i get a little confused, I ordered a Tunze Silence 1073.5 Return Pump, and am hoping i didn't get an underpowered return, I think that is almost 4x turnover an hour. anyone have any experience with this unit?

Flow rate at 15 V: 800 to 1,800 l/h (211 to 475.5 USgal./h).
Flow rate at 24 V: 1,100 to 3,000 l/h (290.5 to 792.5 USgal./h).
Hmax. at 15 V: 1.9 m (74.8 in.).
Hmax. at 24 V: 3.9 m (153.5 in.).

my other question is what would be the ideal drain setup?
should I use 1 1/2" pipes for drain with gutter guard or 1"
what are my options for return lines?

I ordered a Trigger Systems Ruby42E custom sump, 42x18x16, 52gallons
