Sonicboom's 180 build in Tampa

just a small update on the addon sock sump, I kept having nightmares of the sock coming loose and floating into the drain and blocking it so i added a 1" emergency drain, i plugged the 2" completely and the water rose to the top but did not go over.

i am also playing around with my own version of an algae scrubber. used some 1/2" cpvc, sealed it so it floats, attached some 1/4" screen i had laying around and walla, in refugium algae scrubber...

I ran out of Tonga branch, could probably use two more pieces but for not i am good, most frags were moved from their rocks to Tonga branches with the exception of 5. however i have frags of them and will probably sell the rocks with whatever is left on them.

Updated pic, sorry for the blue, i can't find my sunglasses..

Its been a while...looking good. MW has some of the man made tonga branch and it looks really good. I added a few pieces to spruce things up. Hope all is well.

Wow long time no see! Thanks for chiming in!, all is great, I set up a 40 breeder as a frag tank and it is slowly filling!..lol

Would rather have a brick vs the heat and extra complexity in the controller IMHO that's part of why some of them fail. That said I'm always against odd ball connectors in case you need to replace the power supply

Thanks for the inkbird suggestion!, got the replacement in and wired up, temporarily set it on the sump until I hang the fans at an angle.

Glad it's working for you! Sucks the first blew. I have a backup for mine if something happens but so far so good and the tank is happy with the temp ranges the way it looks.

Time for a new FTS!

Did a little tank maintenance and while cleaning off the Coralvue Smart ATO, noticed the casing on the magent coming apart by what seems to be rust... Not a happy camper..

Are you still running the BLDC15? If so, what has your experience with it been? I am considering this pump vs. a Reeflo Hammerhead, and like the potential energy savings and noise reduction of the BLDC15 ...

Yes still running the BLDC15, I have cleaned it twice and have had no issues with it. I absolutely recommend it vs a reeflo.

Thanks for the reply, and for your thread!

Just an FYI - it seems that the current version of the BLDC15 is no longer available. I chatted with someone on the Deepwater Aquatics website, and he confirmed that the pump housing is being redesigned, and the new model will be reintroduced in about 4 weeks. Apparently they are redesigning the housing to reduce heat, just on the BLDC15 ...
