That would probably be the last time I would go into that shop. :)

Probably but ive been going there for years and they give me good prices...Iam like a filter sock when i go in there though...lol...keep the good advice..filter out the bad...but keep the smile:D

Sunny, I've been vodka dosing for about a year and a half now, and just bought a bottle of the MB7. Should I stop vodka dosing for a week or 2 before starting it? Should I start at the recommended dose on the bottle? I've got a 175gal mixed, mostly SPS tank with low nitrate and phosphate readings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Scott

Hey Sunny, I have another bulb question for you. I have a six bulb ATI PM over a 90 gallon Tech Tank. What selection of bulbs would you run? Thanks.

I use sponges in my overflow..can someone tell me if thats good or bad?Cause iam not sure if iam doing good or harm?

always been one of my inspirational tanks ... great read regarding your tank routines sunny ... hopefully ill be able to color up my corals like you do, sonny.

sorry if i skipped through a lot of pages but i think i read that you were using bioptim then now youve switched to zeovit ... or were using neozeo and now using zeovit. can you please tell me what made you change over to zeovit? im currently setting up a full blown zeo tank too and cant wait to have my sps color up :)

Don't tell them I'm using LEDs! They'll have a heart attack!

I went to 2 lfs and they both told me T5's are not enough for me to keep SPS..they said i need halides for that..so now iam confused?...grrrrr..and then I told them that no Ive seen results online...and there like..nooooo..theyre tricking you with fake pics...theres no way u cant do that....lmao:lolspin:

Generally not a good idea. IF and only IF you clean them without fail every two or so days, you can use them. They trap a good amount of junk (waste and detritus) and then the stuff just decays in the sponge (or filter sock) releasing nitrates into the tank.

On the other hand, that junk and detritus, is filtered out via protien skimming.

I use them on occasion for 24-48 hours when I know I am going to stir things up in the tank. They are then removed, cleaned and dried.

Good idea..thankyou..thats what i thought but wasnt sure....but what about waste which settles in the overflow?like at the bottom?

Sonny!!! Awesome thread, awesome tank. Took me forever to read it and should have taken notes but learned alot along the way. I've been dosing MB7 per instructions. Using salifert I can't get a reading on NO3 or PO4. Just a little algae problems here and there that seem to go away on their own. Running carbon and GFO. Should I just leave the vodka alone?

Hi Sonny,

Great thread, lots of good reading :D

Since my tank is deep as it is wide, i couldnt settle on any of the off the shelf fixtures, was wondering if you can give me some advice on how many 48" t5 bulbs i would need, how far apart to spread them, and what color/spectrum should I have hanging over a Miracles 4x4x2 cube.

Thanks,

Sonny,

How is the cyano issue coming along? Are you still using Reef Crystals?

I have been using Reef Crystals for the last year and am very disappointed. I thought it was my tanks but I am convinced the salt has high phosphates. I don't have a hanna meter or anything but cyano has been out of control for a year now no matter what I do and in my other tank, hair algae is starting to run rampant.

I started thinking of when my tanks went down hill and it was with the change of salts. It is expensive but I think I am going back to H2Ocean from now on. My tank was crystal clear with that stuff.

Just a thought

Hey Sonny,

I'm getting ready to go rimless and was wondering how high is your stand? And, have you found it to be the perfect height for your tank or would you change it if you were to do another one? I'm leaning towards 36-38" with a 20" high tank. I know you are taller than me, so maybe 38 or 40 would work for you and still be able to reach in it without a step.

Thanks!

Sunny, this was a great threat! Long to read ...and probably to answer! You need an admin assistant!:D
If you have time, I noted you asked to someone that has a problem a while ago if he add good cooling of his lamp. Again, if you have time, could you explain how bad cooling of a lamp (MH), let say by a bad fan, could produce problem in a tank?
I got some issue with colors and with a fan...

Thanks for all these advises

Guillaume

Ok Sonny, you must be in the Lab or something... We haven't heard from you in a while. I hope all is well.

Everything is going well. :D I have been very busy latly so that is why the thread has not been updated. Hopefully I will have some time tonight to answer the questions above that I have not gotten to.

I just replaced my bulbs and swapped out an ATI Aquablue Special for an ATI Blue+. I am liking this bluer combo and my corals "pop" even more now.

New lighting setup:

FRONT
ATI Blue+
KZ Fiji Purple
ATI Blue+
ATI Blue+
ATI Aquable Special
